The Red House
Another good book by Adam Nevill (End Of Days, Ritual) this time dealing with the Red House and it strange occupants and twisted history. Quite unsettling at times and the one thing that Adam Nevill exels at is creating tension and trapping (for want of a better word) his characters in horrible situations. An author who's books I'll will now purchase on the strength of his name alone. Recommended.

At last a great Vampire horror film!! It's been a long time coming. I love the Blade and Underworld films but they definitely fit more into the action genre. This is bloody and gory in places, has plenty of tension and a good story about a town under siege for 30 days. The photography is great and vampires look original. Overall it has something for everyone especially those who love a good horror, vampire film!

This book was magnificent. It's kind of like an adult Hunger Games mixed in with The Walking Dead, World War Z and The Road. No zombies, no vampires, no dystopian future but a very poignant look at human nature and dire circumstances. Although I am a bit tired of the time jumps that plague all current literature, these feel necessary and are almost a relief in cutting the tension at times. Great novel!

Try sleeping with the lights on
There is no way you'll want to sleep in the dark after watching this scary, unsettling movie. Expect to check the locks on your doors and windows, check behind the shower curtain, in closets, and under the bed after you watch this. Your life will be split into two distinct time periods: Before The Strangers and After.
Mwhahahaha.

This is a really sweet book, i really enjoyed it. If you fancy a light hearted read for the afternoon it is perfect with a cup of tea by your side. There is romantic tension as you wait for the two characters to get together. Even though you know that they surely will get together in the end, you keep thinking that they wont as they go through so many twists and turns. I recommed.

A western like no other as it blends the old west with horror in the most sublime way.
It's a brutal mash up of genres with great character development and dialogue and features Kurt Russell on particularly fine form.
Its pacing could be seen as a sticking point, however it deliberately and expertly builds tension and sets the scene for the gruesome stuff to come.
A very good horror that sticks in the mind.

John Carpenter returns for the music
Jamie lee curtis is back
The best halloween movie?
I loved this movie. There was so much tension all the way through and i enjoyed every second. A lot of that is down to the amazing but eerie score in which we see John Carpenter return for.
Another return is Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode who is great as usual. The whole cast does a good job. With a couple of familiar faces.
This is a direct sequel to original movie. In some ways i like that. It retcons some stupid stuff where they turned Michael Myers into a supernatural entity. But in other ways it means Halloween H20 is pointless and nor canon which i actually enjoyed. It wasnt as scary but it was entertaining.
This movie goes back to scary Michael. He is brutal and for some someone who does not say a single word, speaks volumes with just his presence and proves to be a real threat to anyone he comes into contact with. We even see the original Myers actor, Nick Castle, see a return for a cameo in a window shot which was a nice touch.
Its easily 1 of the creepiest horrors ive seen in a while and 1 of the greats of 2018 and would happily watch again. From what i hear, development is already going for a sequel with a story already written and i am excited. I just hope they can keep that tension.

Great Sfx that stand out even today
The building tension
Some genuine make you jump moments
A cult classic
A great film on so many levels. I love the Alien designs and look of the found spaceship by H.R. Giger. The film is genuinely scary with some iconic scenes. It slowly becomes a game of Alien and mouse aboard a spaceship, providing a claustrophobic setting. If you haven't seen this where have you been?
