Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Blood Shadows (Blackthorn, #1) in Books

I'm someone who prefers vampires to werewolves so I got really into this book. I think it can be put down to the build up of the relationship between between kane and caitlin. The crazy sexual tension that kept building...jeez!
Admittedly the lack of trust and the thinking one wanted to kill the other got a little annoying by the end but I'm glad they got a happy ending.
I wouldn't mind continuing the series.

Out of the LOTR Trilogy, this is my favorite. The scenery is beautiful, the tension is there, and all of the actors do the characters justice. The Battle of Helms Deep is, in my opinion, the best, most engaging battle on film.
It's worth mentioning that I haven't seen the theatrical cut of this film for years. The extended editions are the only versions I'll watch. The additional scenes are worth watching, and offer a more complete story.

Incredible attention to detail including the dialect, costumes and traditional folklore (3 more)
The best child acting I've ever seen in a movie
If you like folklore and traditional tales then this is very accurate to the records
Black Philip
Advertised as a film with plenty of action and jumpscares (2 more)
Uninteresting to those who don't care for tension or history
A fairly controversial ending which divides audiences
A truly unique and engrossing horror for REAL fans of the genre!

I can i get a hell YES!
I've read this book 6 time.. 6 BLOODY times, and i'm still left with the same thought... Who is he?
Now i have my theories in this and i have my doubts but damn is it ever a roller coaster of pure sexual tension.
Now i don't always like when there's too much tension, i mean yea i get it. You want to screw her brains out, but like come on are we teengers afraid to go near the person we like because we're afraid they aren't going to like us back when clearly they are giving you the " come here" eyes.
You're an adult now pull up your big boy panties and go get her, GOD DAMN MAN.
Although.. i will say this, i still love it because even though i've got to wait because the author loves to toy with my emotions -.-" It is incredibly written to the extent that i'm literally laughing with joy at how it proceeds.

Small town Georgia, big time gruesome crime thriller!!!
Hard to believe this was Karin Slaughters first novel, it’s very well rounded for a debut.
When a young college professor is brutally murdered (and I mean BRUTALLY - i.e. not for the squeamish) it falls to Sara Linton as the town coroner to perform the disturbing autopsy. Having found the victim in the local diner, it soon becomes obvious to Sara that there is a seriously sick individual on the loose.
It’s Sara’s ex-husband, police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, who must head up the investigation along with the only female detective Lena Adams, who is also the victims sister (love small town America everyone is all up in each others stuff - did I mention as well as been the towns coroner Sara is also the local paediatrician….) When another victim is found crucified the tension to find the killer builds, as does the tension between characters.
This book was very graphic, but boy was it entertaining in a disturbing way. Fast paced with plenty of suspense, a great beginning to a series.

Elderly sisters An’gel and Dickce Ducote travel to Louisiana for their cousin’s granddaughter’s wedding. But what promises to be a fun time catching up with family turns into tragedy when the tension between the various members of the cousin’s family builds to the breaking point. Then a storm comes in and leaves someone dead. But An’gel and Dickce don’t think the death was because of the storm. Can they figure out what is happening?
This book is a wonderful read. The tension is strong from start to finish, and I wasn’t sure what has really happening until the end. The characters are strong as well, and I love spending time with the series regulars. If Agatha Christie were writing books set in the modern day South, this is what she would write.
NOTE: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Jesters_folly (230 KP) rated Crawl (2019) in Movies
Jul 30, 2019
Crawl is the tale of a father and Daughter who find themselves trapped in a rapidly flooding cellar/crawl space during a hurricane in Florida, their escape is hindered by an increasing number of man eating alligators. There’s not much else to add, plot wise. Crawl is mainly a two and a half cast driven film (two humans and one yappy dog) as Haley and Dave attempt to escape the cellar and get to safety. We do see other characters but usually from a distance and only for short periods of time.
Crawl is a classic creature feature and really works, the small cast helps portray the looming danger and the combination of the alligators and rising flood waters make the threat very believable and the yappy dog is used to enhance the tension as you find yourself waiting for it to be eaten.
And that’s it, Crawl has a simple premise, a simple story and is an hour and half of tension, jump scares, people being eaten and, oh yes one yappy dog.
