"I’d probably have to throw in the Sergei Bondarchuk War and Peace from the ’60s. I remember seeing that with my step-dad when I was about 15. The scale of it and the kind of dramatic style of old, expressionistic use of the camera, that led me then to look at things like Ivan the Terrible. I just thought they were amazing. No one’s quite touched it since. When you look at it, the only thing that’s dated is probably the font they used for the titles — it sort of says it’s a bit ’60s, but the rest of it you just go, “Wow, this guy played Pierre as well as directing it.” And there’s not one CGI soldier, you know: they’ve literally got 50,000 troops in the back of shot."

“This book scared the shit out of me. I picked it up after watching the film adaptation by Tarkovsky, which is one of my favourite movies. Sometimes I feel like the only explanation for human life is that our planet is a terrible god. I like thinking that planets are living, sentient behemoths that we completely misunderstand. I’m horrified to think what it would be like if such an abstract sentience had no regard for us, or enjoying toying with us. The act of repeatedly killing a doppelganger or a loved one seems so horrific; how could anyone think of something so awful? Whenever people pour cream into coffee in a clear glass, it reminds me of this book, because that’s what I imagine the surface of Solaris to look like.”

"As obtuse as this whole list may be, what drew me to Chromeo was their name. Being a hot-rod head and a car fanatic, I loved the name. It could have been a terrible record and I would have loved it, because you ain't got nothing unless you got a lot of chrome.   My taste doesn't run too far into dance or disco but in the grand scheme of things, and for those who are attempting to perceive what ZZ Top is, it's good on occasion to find an unexpected surprise. On occasion we'd be lumped in with southern rock bands, but we're really not – it's Texas. Which is quite a bit different. Texas is down south, but it's certainly a far cry from South Carolina or Alabama or Georgia."

A Good Follow Up

With Season One being such a hit I was worried about whether or not the second season would be able to keep up. Although the storyline and continued family drama met all of my expectations I was sad to find that the music didn't hold up. Although it isn't terrible it was clear that the music targeted a more mainstream audience woth continued pop hits and only a few really good songs scattered throughout. Seeing as the whole show centers around music I was expecting more. However, I look forward to what season three will hold as the show itself contained a wonderful storyline that I look forward to seeing develop further.

Dragged across the 2 hour mark (and then some)

Ok so after seeing the nicely executed movie blood father starring Mel Gibson, I honestly thought this was gonna be another decent movie in his comeback.

Instead what we actually got was a ridiculously Slow, Boring, slightly Violent, Intense in-car talking, Graphic, Forgettable let down.

Also starring vince Vaughn who should seriously stick to terrible comedies (except for Dodgeball) this is a movie that may or may not be about consequences of you actions and so bad you'll ask yourself once again why Gibson won't say yes to lethal weapon 5?

I mean come on, we paid to see die hard 5, we'll pay to see whatever crap that throws at us.....
