I know this will be controversial, but....

This is written in five parts, like the life cycle of a flower: wilting, falling, rooting, rising and blooming. Some really disturbing, personal poetry is amongst these poems. It's a celebration in all it's forms: romantic, sexual and parental (I may have missed some). I originally wrote that the poems were 'so good', but I wonder in hindsight whether they actually are. In some ways, the poems are all very disjointed. You don't even really know where one ends and another starts (and vice versa). I'm not keen on how the titles of the poems are written at the bottom of the poems, and some are just left hanging in the middle of a page, like a motivational slogan. I read quite a bit of poetry, but this just isn't for me. I wouldn't go by my opinion though. I strongly advise you, if you're interested, to have a go and read Kaur's poetry yourselves.

A book of hopey changey during the Obama years

This funny, poignant look at the White House from the perspective of a speechwriter, humanises those who worked for Obama and the former president himself.

From hilarious anecdotes, where David Litt was literally found with his Hulk pants down on Air Force One, to harrowing experiences watching Obama sing Amazing Grace after the racially-motivated Charleston shooting -it's like a real-life series of West Wing.

His admiration for the ex-chief is rather sweet, turning from full-blown hero worshipping to quiet respect for POTUS as a person as in his own words: "We are not perfect but we have the capacity to be more perfect".

Hence the ending seems bittersweet - Litt was part of Obama's legacy that is being decimated so for him it is personal. He asks "Was Barack Obama a good President?" And without hesitation he agrees that he was.

The Wolverine film we've all been waiting for

Finally we get a decent gory, angry Wolverine and for once a dark, violent character being stuck with a child doesn't make him more mild, it made her more ... violent.
The film sees Logan caring for Charles Xavier struggling with dementia and catastrophic seizures, driving a limousine to make ends meet in a world where mutants are outlawed. He ends up journeying across America with young Mexican mutant Laura, whose powers match Wolverine's. While the plot is not particularly new or complex, it is good enough to carry the action.
The action is so much darker and more bloody than in any other X-Men film - I strongly believe Deadpool opened the door for them to make a truly adult film (not like that!), with no spandex in sight.
I see this as the final chapter in Hugh Jackman's time as Wolverine, though I can see more life still in the X-Men franchise (or a re-boot thereof).
