Sweetwater ( The Kihn book 1)
By Rivi Jacks

They say you can never go home again that what we remember, is just that—a memory. Well, I’m on my way home, and I’m eager to test that theory. Little do I know that what awaits me will change my life forever.

Sofie Reece is returning to Sweetwater, a sleepy little town nestled in the Ozarks to discover evil waiting for her. As supernatural beings, both good and evil, arrive in town, so does Lucas Santiago. Sofie senses a danger in Lucas but finds herself powerfully attracted to him. Though intimidated by his sexual appeal and power, she cannot help but fall for Lucas. As both the danger and their passion intensify, Sofie is unaware that Lucas has a dark secret – a secret that will blow her world apart…

I loved it!! It was so addictive to read and unlike what I’ve read before. The supernatural element is not always forefront in the story which I found I liked. The different relationships in this book are just brilliant from the best friends and family to the romantic relationships. I’m so looking forward to the next book.

With this third book in the Fairest Maidens series Jody Hedlund gives us a wonderful retelling of Sleeping Beauty! Jody Hedlund gave me just what I wanted to end the series, a dashing hero, applicable life lessons, and a story that hooked me from the start. I was caught up in the first chapter of Besotted. Kresten is a dreamy hero, I loved he sense of self, and his caring nature. Aurora captivated me Jody Hedlund did a great job laying out her character and giving her that hint of mystery. Together Kresten and Aurora are perfect they play off each other well and truly seem to be each others other half. They have a strong duty to others and the strength of character to do what's in the best interest of others over what's best for you

I would say this is my favorite book in the series but then again, the others were good too :) I give Besotted 5 out of 5 stars.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Spies in Disguise (2019)
Spies in Disguise (2019)
2019 | Action, Adventure, Animation
Slick and energetic but has the exact same plot as at least 80% of all the children's animated movies from the last 40 years (and not even a good version of it, I'll forget most of this by the end of the week, tops). This isn't even an hour/45 but it feels like a century when you know all (and I do mean *all*) the beats it's going to take, verbatim. Try to picture 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘔𝘦 without the charm or visual imagination. Will Smith plays himself yet again, shocker - and Holland is relegated to the irritating 'soft boi sidekick' role and everyone learns life lessons about how violence is never the answer. Are you fucking kidding me with this shit lmfao. Actually half watchable when it leans into its surreal kinetic energy, has a few laughs - otherwise hardly tries enough to be awful but it's still quite smug. I also loathe these crushingly uninspired character/set designs, and there's a lot more anus and crotch jokes than I was initially expecting. If this were a bit more experimental it'd at least be a curio, but there's almost nothing to it.

Burt wants YOU to have his baby!
When a man decides that he wants a son but no wife, he looks for a surrogate to carry his child. Not as easy as he thought it would be, he finds a woman who is willing to help out. But as they get to know each other, life and love takes them down a road they never expected. For a film made in the early 80's (1981), most of the jokes and story plot is somewhat dated. The excellent cast (Burt Reynolds and Beverly D'Angelo) is a big highlight of the film. For many of those individuals who grew up watching movies in the early 80's and are fans of the cast will be drawn to the film. Parents and Parents-to-be will most likely understand the inside jokes. If your looking for a real good laugh, join Burt and Beverly as they prepare for parenthood in this early 80's jem...Paternity!!!

Not as Hot a Debut As I Had Hoped
Jolene Jackson hates to return to her hometown of Kickapoo, Texas, but when her mother, Lucille, is brought in for questioning after the mayor is murdered, Jolene heads down to help out. Lucille is obviously hiding something from the sheriff, who also happens to be Jolene’s high school sweetheart. When it becomes obvious that Lucille’s life is in danger, Jolene jumps in to figure things out. Can she do it?

I discovered recently that I bought this book twice, physical and ebook. Clearly, I was interested in reading it. Sadly, it disappointed. The mystery confuses action with unraveling a mystery, so I got a little frustrated in the middle of the book. Even so, I was interested in the action the entire way through. While the main characters are good, the supporting cast is thin. What is supposed to come across as humorous instead comes across as condescending toward those that Jolene doesn’t agree with. Add in some characters who come across as purposefully stereotypical and a few needless political comments and I struggled at times. I’m disappointed I didn’t enjoy this book more.
