Good Lesson
My 3rd grader asked me to read this book after he read it. I loved it and couldn't put it down.
Ivan is a silverback gorilla that has been living and working in a show at the mall. The show owner brings in a new elephant named Ruby to bring in more visitors. Stella, the older injured elephant asks Ivan to help Ruby get a better life. Ivan's life begins to change as he tries to fulfill his promise to Stella. Ivan learns that while you may settle for what life hands you, there may always be something better for you.
This story is a great lesson for kids that you don't have to settle for what life hands you. It also serves as a good reminder for adults that we don't have to settle either, we can work towards new goals, and we can achieve them.
I would recommend this book for everyone, kids to adults. It would be great to read this as a kid, then again as a teen, and again as an adult. Rereading this on can help us remember to not settle for what life hands, but to make life ours.

Kate (355 KP) rated Ravenhill - Hidden Mystery in Apps
Mar 21, 2019
It is quite good, the story line is quite interesting, there are lots of games out there like this where you have to find objects in various scenes to build a collection and progress through the story. It is very similar to another one but the good thing about this is that is is not just hidden object but mixes it up with puzzle levels too. It is quite easy though because I have managed to progress through the game and now on level 14 without losing a life. I will keep playing it though to see where it goes.

Heartwarming Rom-com
One of the best Rom-com's in recent years. Not full of laughs throughout, it does have it's more serious and dramatic parts along the way. It does have a great cast with Renolds, the 3 female leads and a good performance by Abigail Breslin as Reynolds daughter. A good story largely told in retrospective segments as a father tells his daughter of his 3 main loves in his life, to see if she can work out which one was her mother. A class above most Rom-coms, with aspects similar to The Notebook and Serendipity!

Ok... Apart from the ending
This seems a bit of an indie film but actually has a good cast line up. Britt Robertson is the main character and likable even when her character isn't at times. She blogs her life and mainly her relationships she goes through. It isn't a particularly light hearted film and raises a lot issues on many deep subjects. Overall it was an interesting film but the final few minutes didn't make any sense with what went before. It just didn't fit with the rest of the film. Worth checking out.
MaryAnn (14 KP) rated Lewis on the Christian Life: Becoming Truly Human in the Presence of God in Books
Mar 5, 2019
Synopsis: C.S. Lewis excelled at plumbing the depths of the human heart, both the good and the bad, the beautiful and the corrupt. From science fiction and fantasy to essays, letters, and works of apologetics, Lewis has offered a wealth of insight into how to live the Christian life.
In this book, Rigney explores the center of Lewis’s vision for the Christian life—the personal encounter between the human self and the living God. In prayer, in the church, in the imagination, in our natural loves, in our pleasures and our sorrows, God brings us into his presence so that we can become fully human: alive, free, and whole, transformed into the image of Jesus Christ.
My Thoughts: This is a book that takes a look into the life of C.S. Lewis; author of many books that readers have come to love. This is a wonderful book for those who enjoy reading C.S. Lewis' books as it gives an idea to the reader the thoughts and insights in his writings.
This is a good book for those who want to become acquainted with Mr. Lewis and will certainly want to go back and read his books again.
Iam certain that readers will enjoy this book.

Erika (17788 KP) rated High-Rise (2016) in Movies
Aug 26, 2017
Life in a high-rise tower falls into chaos after frequent power outages create a clash between the classes. The film was based upon the book by the same name by JG Ballard. There were obvious differences from book to movie, but the changes made sense. Tom Hiddleston did a good job as Laing, and Luke Evans was savage as Wilder. The score of the film set the perfect tone, and Portishead's cover of SOS was on point.
