After the Fire blew me away. I had heard good things before picking it up, but I wasn’t prepared to be so quickly invested in the characters and the story. This is not necessarily an easy read, it’s about a young girl who has grown up in a cult, after something bad has happened. Split between Before and After, the book looks at life in the cult leading up to the fire, and after, following Moonbeams recovery and the investigation. It was a powerful read, with some really deep character development. I couldn’t put it down.

All About The Stone
Romancing The Stone- is a classic action-adventure film. It has a great cast and director.

The plot: A dowdy romantic-adventure writer is hurled into a real-life adventure in the Colombian jungle in order to save her sister, who will be killed if a treasure map is not delivered to her captors. She is helped out by a brash mercenary, and together they search for the priceless gem located in the map.

Micheal Douglas and Danny DeVito are the best parts of this film. Also Robert Zemeckis directed it. Its a good film.

This is the final(?) entry in Angus Donald's 'Fire Born' series about the Viking berserker Bjarki Bloodhand in the time of Charlemagne, a series which - will enjoyable enough - has never *quite* managed to hit the heights of his Robin Hood 'Outlaw Chronicles' series of novels.

Here, we have Bjarki living a quiet life at the start of the novel, before events transpire to drag him - and his sister Tor - back into the conflict between the Christian Franks and the pagan Danes/Saxons, events that culminate in one of the few Frankish (temporary) defeats.

Worth a read? Yes.
As good as the Outlaw Chronicles series? No.
