Even though this book is supposed to revolve around one of three best friends, Kathleen, I found that it was divided pretty evenly between the three girls. Kathleen's mother is afflicted with multiple sclerosis, which adds a human interest element to the plot that makes the reader sympathetic to Kathleen's struggles. This is also makes it quite understandable as to why Kathleen would be attracted to bad-boy Carson -- she lives such a controlled life that she needs some rebellion and unpredictability to make life more interesting.
The three girls volunteer for a program at the local hospital, called the Pink Angels. This makes for great background material as there is plenty of fodder for creating obstacles and conflicts. It was also somewhat familiar to me, thanks to what I've gone through with my youngest daughter's two hospital stays. My heart especially melted at one of the girl's interactions with a boy sick with cancer.
The characters were not overly unique and some were more likable than others. What really bothered me the most was how the book ended -- it just sort of cuts off. I understand that this book is part of a trilogy, but as it attempts to focus on one particular character, Kathleen, the plot lines pertaining to her should be resolved.

I received this book for free through the firstreads Goodreads program =)

Loved, loved, loved this book!! I read it all within 24 hours save 17 pages. I love how this book weaves other fairy tales in to its own plot. It's also done in such a graceful way and a way that makes sense. It seems a lot of the popular classic fairy tales find their way into this story.

The characters are so easy to love as well. I loved Sunday. Wednesday was also a favourite of mine.

I also must admit that during the ball scene, I had to stop and watch the video to "Love Story" by Taylor Swift as that scene reminded me so much of the video! After that, I kept picturing Sunday as Taylor Swift and Wednesday as Amy Lee (of Evanescence).

I can not fault this book in any way, shape or form. There is nothing bad about this book except that it ended =)

I'm hoping that there will be a second book since I loved this one so dearly!

A twist on the classic super hero story
This is an interesting in-depth look at a Hero Certification Program and how young Supers become full-fledged Heroes. Gifted with incredible powers, the Supers have to complete 4 years of rigorous training to be allowed an internship under an existing Hero.

The Powereds, on the other hand, have to be contained and avoided--they have no control over their abilities. And that's fine if your ability is, say, shooting water out of your fingers... But what if you control the flow of gravity, or absorb electricity?

When a mysterious treatment turns 5 Powereds into Supers, you can bet there is chaos, mischief, and at least a little destruction to boot!

I loved this book because it was well-written, with interesting and deep characters. There are no Mary Sues here, and even the professors become real as opposed to just static authority figures.

Additionally. I bought this book for Kindle for $4, and it's like 700 pages long. Can't beat that price!

I reccommend this book to everyone!
