The Night House was my third movie at Cineworld Broughton yesterday and although I had heard many mixed feelings about the movie, my interest in The Night House was sparked by knowing that it was directed by David Bruckner who brought us The Ritual, a film I really enjoyed.

The Night House isn't as scary and jumpy as I hoped it would be, but it’s more of a supernatural thriller than horror and if you go in to watch it like that then you won’t be disappointed.

Slow burning gold!

A slow burn thriller that had me turn pages without realising it. Plush with details that help build an intriguing story, Twentymile immerses you into cultures and struggles that you wouldn't usual think about.
    Special Agent Tsula Walker is sharp, intelligent and definitely not a fool! She sees things that others miss and can hold her own......I do love a strong female character that happens to be our main one too.
    Perfect for a first or fifty-first foray into thrillers, you won't be disappointed.

A very enjoyable film for the most part and definitely does a great job of making you feel like you are there high up in peril as well. Vertigo inducing effects as the two girls are stuck up one of the highest structures in the US. Unfortunately there are a couple of plot developments or holes that are a bit annoying, but hard to ignore. It was going to be 7/10 before these things crop up. On the whole though a very good situation thriller.

1999 thriller starring a (very young) Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law, with Damon playing the Mr Ripley of the title, a young man with a talent for mimicry, who is hired by a wealthy American businessman (in the late 1950s) to bring his errant son back home from his idyllic lifestyle in sun-drenched Italy.

Initially planning on doing just that, Ripley soon finds himself drawn further and further into their lifestyle, soon going to extreme lengths in order to live the life that he craves (and that they do).
