Brilliant
I need to be very honest now, despite being a massive film and Stephen King fan, I have never seen Misery until now. I’ve read the book many times, but for some reason I never got round to watching the film, and I’m pretty ashamed of myself.

This is one of the best Stephen King adaptations out there. Kathy Bates is phenomenal as Annie, she plays her perfectly. James Caan would never have been my first choice as Paul Sheldon, but he does very well. The entire film is so true to the book, it’s surprisingly good. Whilst I wouldn’t call it a horror film, it’s definitely one of the best thriller films out there despite its age. I can’t fault this film at all.

A young woman about to marry her lover, an ex-wife obsessed by her successor, or is everything not quite as it seems? The blurb does warn readers not to make assumptions and it also does a clever job of not giving anything away. This collaboration has produced a taught psychological thriller that has already seen the film rights being snapped up by Steven Spielberg. It’s a slow, absorbing read for the first part but then it turns like a tornado. You will get drawn into a marriage, the compromises, the cover ups and the condescension that can evolve over time. Don’t try to assume anything. Just read and enjoy this (in your own head) before you see the movie.

A good but unremarkable read
This is one of those books that I struggle to say much about. It was a nice, easy read but was ultimately very unremarkable. It was written fairly well, and the two main characters of Kate and Nova were engaging and well developed. I think the main problem with this story was that whilst the plot isn’t bad, it’s a bit predictable and not particularly interesting. Nova’s story is the more interesting of the two, and her outlook on life once she gets her vision back along with her ‘rules of seeing’ are fascinating and good to read. I just wish the plot could have concentrated more on this rather than developing into a typical romantic thriller type story.

Hmm
I was looking forward to this after having watched and enjoyed the original Swedish Girl with the Dragon tattoo series of films. Even the US remake of the original was very good because the story was just very interesting.
This feels very different. From the Bond like opening credits and plot about a programme that can hack any nuclear missile world wide. It's very broad in scope... Without actually having a big plot feel to it. It's not a bad film, it's an ok Thriller. After the high standards set by the other films though this is a step down. Check out the the Swedish ones if you haven't seen them.

I really like a psychological thriller. And I am drawn to books like this. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The pace is just perfect and it holds your attention throughout. I loved most of the characters, although I felt at times that the wife's personality was a bit clouded - she seems like she should be an intelligent women, but then there are moments where that seems to fail her. I was very surprised at the end when it turns out that Heath was actually seeing more than one pupil - that I did not expect and loved that little twist. There were points when I actually wasn't sure who killed the sister - Cody, Heath, Mrs Darcy, the list goes on.

This is a very dramatic departure from the usual sugar dusted, bakery inspired novels Watson is so famous for. It’s a psychological, dark, domestic thriller that explores a seemingly perfect marriage, exposing what goes on behind closed doors. Marianne has everything, a handsome surgeon husband, a beautiful home and three children she adores. A perfect life. Then her husband says another woman’s name and her spiral descent begins. Is it paranoia or does she have reason to believe that this is another woman? This is a tense novel, using dramatic irony to pull you along Marianne’s journey. The characters are a little cliched, but I won’t spoil your reading by revealing too much. If you enjoy this genre then it is ‘unputdownable’.

Hallucinations and Flashbacks
Jacob's Ladder- is a really great psychological supernatural horror thriller. Tim Robbins is excellent in this film.

The Plot: After returning home from the Vietnam War, veteran Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) struggles to maintain his sanity. Plagued by hallucinations and flashbacks, Singer rapidly falls apart as the world and people around him morph and twist into disturbing images. His girlfriend, Jezzie (Elizabeth Peña), and ex-wife, Sarah (Patricia Kalember), try to help, but to little avail. Even Singer's chiropractor friend, Louis (Danny Aiello), fails to reach him as he descends into madness.

Its also super underrated, not alot of people talk about this film or know about this film. Its a must watch psychological twisted supernatural horror film.

Run From The Spaceships
War of the Worlds- is a good remake of the oringal, taking a different spin on it. Plus you have Tom Cruise running from spaceships which is a plus in my books.

The plot: Dockworker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) struggles to build a positive relationship with his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). When his ex-wife, Mary Ann (Miranda Otto), drops them off at Ferrier's house, it seems as though it will be just another tension-filled weekend. However, when electromagnetic pulses of lightning strike the area, the strange event turns out to be the beginning of an alien invasion, and Ferrier must now protect his children as they seek refuge.

Its a good sci-fi action thriller.

Based on the world wide videogame franchise phenomenon, Hitman follows a highly trained silent assassin, known only as Agent 47, who after learning of a plot against him possibly stemming from his organizations HQ, he is quickly thrown into a game of cat and mouse with interpol agent's quickly closing in on him.

Timothy Olyphant stars as Agent 47 in this barrel blazing, hardcore action/thriller story of violent retribution.

Fantastic stunt action, edge of your seat combat sequences & superb special effects.

Actually considered the worst of the two (unless you've actually seen both, then ya know better) this is one of the closest I've seen to a perfect videogame movie adaptation.
