Nerve-frying. A top-rate, crackling white-knuckle thriller - I realize I'm probably alone in this but afterwards I was left literally trembling, breathless, and in tears of sheer anxiety. By the time the end credits had rolled my fist had gradually clenched so much so that I'd actually dug into the skin with my fingernails without realizing it. Paranoia sets in as early as the very first frames and doesn't let go for the entire not-a-minute-wasted runtime - carried so well by these three galactic performances. I'm impressed with how self-assured this type of sincerely unique filmmaking is a solid year before we'd have that 'horror renaissance' everyone talks about: those uncomfortable shots, nervous editing, and sickly color palette all add into something to behold - a truly wired, uneasy experience unlike many I've ever seen. And then on top of all of that it's just good ole' unpretentious fun - never for a second knew where it was headed and revels in such an animalistic sense of seeing how much mental sadism they can put these people through. Took me some time to fully grasp its vision, but once I did I was all in - may need to sit on this one for a while.

"Vince Vaughn made me laugh like all the way through this film. There’s plenty of dialogue, but the part where he’s sitting at the dinner table and he’s getting the rub-and-tug under table is just… He’s doing everything with his face, like, he’s not really saying anything. What’s coming out of him is awesome, pardon the pun. Will Ferrell is great too, but just watch Vince Vaughn in that entire movie where he gets strapped down to the bed and they want to play tummy sticks and stuff. “No, no tummy sticks.” The scene where he goes into the kitchen and he’s angry, and he’s like “We’re not talking,” but he’s loading up on carbs and stuff and announces he’s going to “sit over here,” dumping syrup on top of everything. It’s slapsticky and over the top, but there’s room on everyone’s queue for something big that has celebrities in it but a great score, and it looked great, they’re taking the boat out, there’s big weddings. It’s a big movie, but it didn’t feel big and overpowering; it felt intimate. There was a direction, there was a sense, and they went. And they didn’t deviate, and it also has such a sweetness and lessons learned and all that kind of stuff."

I'll refrain from gushing, but needless to say, this movie was wonderfully entertaining mindless violence. Just what I look for in a film. I'm still cheesed off that there wasn't a midnight screening, but it was a wonderful showing with loads of us packed in to see it. There's no denying that a packed house makes for a better experience. We were all laughing and cringing together, such fun.

As you can see just a little further down the screen, I saw this another two times, and I'm still not convinced that I saw all the little nods to other things. Top tip for the DVD commentary... one with actual commentary, and one with Peter just telling you what all the little things were.

Speaking of Peter, he is definitely one of my top five things about DP2. He's magnificent, and I genuinely panicked when bad things started happening to X-Force... and damn the script writers for lulling me into a false sense of security.

Bit of a spoiler alert here if you haven't seen it... I love the credit scene... but who in their right mind would give Deadpool a time travel device?! What about that seemed sensible to you, Negasonic Teenage Warhead? WHAT?
