Andrew Furlong (14 KP) rated Star Trek: First Contact (1996) in Movies
Sep 27, 2017
The Borg before Voyager demystified them (3 more)
Great blend of action, story, humor, and character
Seeing the First Contact between humans and Vulcans
Great acting from Patrick Stewart
Easily Picard and crew's best cinematic outing
The best (often seen as only good) entry in the TNG films is also one of the best Trek films period. The storyline blends both a Borg and Time Travel story in very clever ways and director Jonathan Frakes does a great job at keeping it fun.

In the story of The Mudhogs, the three pigs named Piggy, Piggles, and Piglet love mud. They want to play in the mud but there isn’t any in the barn that they live in. So they travel the world looking for mud… and when they get home they learn an important lesson.
This is a really cute book that all kids would love. It’s easy to understand and is written by a kid for a kid. The illustrations are adorable and the story is funny and cute. Recommended for ages 3-10.

A funny and informative read
As an avid reader of historical fiction, specifically medieval times, I have so many questions. How did the people live, work and travel? What did a village or town look like? Did people have toilet paper and what did they all wear?
This book answers all these questions, and much more!
If you ever want to know more about how people lived back then, this book is for you!

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated The Wolverine (2013) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
Darren Aronofsky was originally chosen to direct this second Wolverine solo outing but had to drop out due to travel restraints. Instead, James Mangold was brought in to helm this thrilling adventure as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was the fish-out-of-water that the series needed. Set for the majority of the runtime in Japan, and with an exciting action sequence set atop a bullet train, The Wolverine was a reasonable return to form for the X-Men solo movies.

Dork_knight74 (881 KP) rated Cargo: Space is Cold (2012) in Movies

Find this one in Amazon. It's in German with English subtitles but was a pretty interesting sci-fi thriller. The acting was decent enough and the effects weren't too bad. The story unfolds a bit slow but it's interesting enough if you pay attention. It's definitely an interesting idea. Involves the concept of space travel to other passengers because of what we have done to earth and he technology is used by the "government" to fool us into believing there's a utopia like planet that we've habitated. Worth a watch if you're bored.
David McK (3425 KP) rated The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia, #3) in Books

Depending on which version of reading order you go by, this is either the 3rd book in the Narnian chronicles (publication order), or the 5th (by setting) and, personally, I found not to be as engaging as the previous 4 I'd read (going by setting).
I think this is also the last time any of the Pevensie children ever travel to Narnia, with the whole plot - concerning, as the title says, the Voyage of Prince (now King) Caspian's ship - owing more than a faint nod to Homer's Odyssey!

Emily (1430 KP) rated the PC version of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt in Video Games

Great game with a huge open world to explore. The dialogue system is so detailed, you can really get as much or as little info out of the NPCs as you want.
I think my only criticism so far is that you're occasionally forced to travel through areas that are astronomically outside of your current level on the way to complete quests that are slightly below your level. Dealable but can be a bit frustrating.
Overall though, it's only minor niggles, the rest of the game is detailed, engaging and suitably epic!
