Merissa (13389 KP) rated In Due Time (Time #2) in Books

IN DUE TIME is the second book in the Times series and we continue with Tatum as she tries to sort out the world and its problems! You probably could read this as a standalone but I think it is definitely worth reading book one first as it will give you smaller details that help make this story so good.
This book helps to bring further elements of the paranormal world into the story, including human shapeshifters, vampires, and witches. Leo acts like a jerk but claims ignorance (pfft, I sort of get it, but still…) Oliver also finds his true mate (which I loved) and James and Nat have rocky times (because James lost his path.) As much as Tatum sorts something out, something else comes along to cause her worry and stress. We also find out more about Tatum and her past, and her connection with Oliver's true mate, which was great! Can I just add, I loved the bit with Lexly!
A thoroughly enjoyable addition to the series and I look forward to reading Adina's story.
Definitely recommended by me.

Ross (3284 KP) rated The Witcher - Season 1 in TV

Good introduction, true to the feel of the books, despite Geralt
I have played a little of Witcher 3, and have read the three sets of Sapkowski's Witcher short stories which precede the main series of books. I found the series to be quite true to the feel of the books. Throughout the short stories you are reading what feels like a decent story of hunting a monster but longing to have something larger with more background to get your teeth into. Similarly, the series shows us certain of Geralt's exploits vanquishing monsters for various lords, which are ok but somewhat lacking.
Cavill as Geralt doesn't say much, which is true to his character in the game (but then as he is the PoV character, it would be odd if he was constantly chatting to you and there is rarely anyone else there!). He tends to grunt and swear and is generally a right brooding bore.
However, throughout the series we have the backstory to Ciri (the young girl destined to accompany Geralt) and Yenefer (the powerful mage Geralt is obsessed with), both of which give much more insight into the world, the politics and some of the magic.
Yenefer's story is especially gripping, going from a deformed kind-hearted girl to the strong, beautiful, powerful witch she becomes.
A few reviews complain that the story jumps around a lot, both in person/place and time and it is quite hard to stitch it together. All I would say is if you stick with it, it all becomes clear. Like with the books, some of Geralt's stories feature what seem like small details but which turn out to be very important for the future parts of the story.
My main gripe is as with the books the Witcher himself is a dreadfully boring, one-dimensional cliché of a character, but those around him, given more focus, make this quote a gripping and enjoyable series.

Anne Boleyn:A Kings Obsession (Six Tudor Queens book 2)
By Alison Weir
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession by bestselling historian Alison Weir, author of Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen, is the second captivating novel in the Six Tudor Queens series. An unforgettable portrait of the ambitious woman whose fate we know all too well, but whose true motivations may surprise you. Essential reading for fans of Philippa Gregory and Elizabeth Chadwick.
'Offers a spellbinding solution to the mystery of Anne's true nature . . . Enthralling' Sarah Gristwood
The young woman who changed the course of history.
Fresh from the palaces of Burgundy and France, Anne draws attention at the English court, embracing the play of courtly love.
But when the King commands, nothing is ever a game.
Anne has a spirit worthy of a crown - and the crown is what she seeks. At any price.
ANNE BOLEYN. The second of Henry's Queens. Her story.
History tells us why she died. This powerful novel shows her as she lived.
I absolutely love how this author writes! I was hooked from the start with this book. Anne Boleyn is one of those women who started with such good intentions but then became all dark and twisted! I have zero sympathy for how her life played out but found her story totally captivating. This is definitely a series worth reading!

Another marvel netflix show
I actually have seen all 6 marvel netflix shows .this one rocks verry violent gory .but holds true to the comic book from the marines to the streets.i thought they would water the character down like they did with the others .but no verry much like the comic a bloodthirsty insane vigilante .kudos to them they musta learned from iron fist.love it

DeNiro's performance is subtle but intense (3 more)
Brilliantly captures the subsequent decimation of Madoff's family
Well written - keeps you wondering how he got away with it for so long
A relatively dry subject is made to feel accessible and encapsulating
Unnecessary focus on scenes that added very little to the movie (it's already over 2 hours long) (1 more)
Maybe more insight required into Madoff's mental inadequacies?
Fascinating true story of a charming sociopath and how he exploited the mega-rich for billions
Official trailer:
I was very impressed with this book when I read it the first time round and again when we did it with the book group. I think it is based on a true story about a boy and his mother being trapped in one room in a bunker with no means of escape or so they think at the time. with a lot of cunning and effort they eventually manage to escape the room and return to a normal lifestyle or as normal as possible.

This book is a really good read, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story which is based on true events and real people. I like how the characters renained hopeful of a future considering their unfortunate situation. However, like others have said I feel like the author down played the intensity of everything, despite this, some parts were still get hard to read. Overall, 9/10. Would read again and recommend.

My absolute favorite
Aaaahhhh this is just one of those that I just was not expecting I'm really not someone who watches loads of war movies but I'll try anything once and boy was I glad I did. The movie is amazing it really is special even in the catagory of war films. The fact that it's based of a true story makes it even better as it appeals to the history loving part of me.
