This book is an interesting mix of mystery and romance set in 1930s Burma, and swaps between the stories of Belle, a nightclub singer and Diana, her mother. This novel has mystery, tension, violence and romance.
The setting in colonial Burma was beautifully written. It was an easy read and I enjoyed this story and would recommend.

I was asked to read this book as part of a management team building exercise. I was truly hoping that this book would help me understand some of the personalities that are harder to get along with but this book seems to justify some of their behaviors.
I do understand the concepts in this book and I can see how they can be beneficial but I also struggle with how this book can be used to justify being an asshole. I understand that a management staff needs to be able to trust that they can be honest and candid when it comes to personal responsibilities but I also fear (due to seeing this book in action) that this book can be used as a way to bully your way into the management staff.
There are some people that this book would work wonders for and other people that will not be able to handle it. I think I'm one of those people. It seems that this book talks of trust, and very simple concepts but it does not explain ways to truly create any sort of buy in from a employee. I think that it is a good thing to be honest but I also think that you need to take people into consideration. Just saying that it isn't personal does not help if the statement is personal.
Ultimately, I think that the concepts can be good but I also see this book as another way to create bullies and unneeded conflict.

My Thoughts: This is a wonderful story of a close-knit family. Living in an idyllic southern island setting. This is a story that is about trust, honesty, and purity. It's about our Christian character.
Caroline Painter is a talented young woman whose family has lived on the island since her relatives left England in the early 1600's. In the author's debut novel, she has given the reader an excellent reading experience. The story-line is full of wonderful characters that the reader will love, she brings the readers into the story with wonderful characters and lots of emotion. This is certainly a fairy tale story; with fast expensive cars and gifts, but one that the readers will love.
I appreciated when Caroline gave her testimony for Christ in the story which led others to Christ. The painter family has strong beliefs that they stand for, and value the rich family character.

My Thoughts: This is a wonderful story about healing. It teaches us not to judge people, not knowing what their life events have been or where it's taken them. This story introduces the readers to equine therapy which allows the abused learn to trust and love again.
The characters in the story were very believable and the reader feels empathy for them. The writer engages the reader and keeps the storyline moving. It was a joy to read. It is also a story about turning to God and trusting Him in everything.
This is a great story for those who love horses and cowboys. It may even lead to an interest in equine therapy.

I received this book as a give away as part of a compilation [Shattered Worlds]. I have decided to give each book it's own review as I finish them to give the authors their due.
[The Breeders] by [Katie French] was a very exciting well written book. The main character of Riley was full of spunk and wasn't going to let anyone get the better of her. Her goal was to protect the ones she loves. As the story progresses she realizes she may need some help with this and must learn to trust other people.
This will be a book I look for in a paper edition to put in my classroom library. I will also be putting the {Believers] on my reading list.

That detective, is the right question.
In the year 2035 A.I. robots are an every part of life throughout the world, working public jobs in place of humans with three rules, number 1 being to protect human life. Most people trust these robots except for one man, detective Del spooner who has a dark past involving robots. Del takes on a case involving a possible suicide of the robotics founder/creator and believes a human like A.I. May be involved.
With help of a robot expert, spooner discovers a conspiracy that may endanger the human race.
This movie has a dark tone, some great cgi work but a story similar to previous movies like terminator and Extinction.
Starring Will Smith, Alan Tudyk, James Cromwell and Bridget Moynahan.

The annual Winter Wonderland is about to open when Kaitlyn Clydesdale comes back to town. While she hints at knowing information about Charlotte's parents, Charlotte also wonders if she can trust this woman. Before Charlotte can learn more, Kaitlyn winds up murdered, and the police focus on Rebecca's boyfriend. Can Charlotte clear him of the crime?
The mystery is strong, and I have a hard time figuring out the killer. The story moved quickly, and the characters were mostly great. My only real issue was Rebecca, who is usually a fun character, was so over the top I found her annoying.
