Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I'm just going to jump straight in. This is the first of the bloodline chronicles and I cannot wait for the next. I have been truly captivated by the story and the characters!

There is fighting, sex and discoveries, all so well put together that it has been a pleasure to read. Both of the main characters Sarai and Marcelle have heartbreaking backstories and have been through so much hardship to do with families that they find it hard to trust anybody, but they have found each other and it's like they've been made for each.

I really cannot wait to find out where these characters go and I hope they get the happiness they deserve.

A recommendation from me for sure

A Rumored Fortune

Tressa Harlowe's father did not trust banks, but neither did he trust his greedy extended family. He kept his vast fortune hidden somewhere on his estate in the south of England and died suddenly, without telling anyone where he had concealed it. Tressa and her ailing mother are left with a mansion and an immense vineyard and no money to run it. It doesn't take long for a bevy of opportunists to flock to the estate under the guise of offering condolences. Tressa knows what they're really up to. She'll have to work with the rough and rusticated vineyard manager to keep the laborers content without pay and discover the key to finding her father's fortune--before someone else finds it first.

My Thoughts: This is the second novel for Author Joanna Davidson Politano and her books only get better and better! A story of intrigue, suspense, love, and lessons to be learned. Tressa and her mother are summoned home early from a trip abroad. Assuming that her father has called them home, Tressa is excited to see him again. When they do finally get home, she is met by a handsome stranger who comes to her aid and brings her to the castle only to find that her father has died. As she learns that Trevelyan has run into money problems she quickly starts searching for the hidden treasure; the only thing is, is that she isn't the only one. At the world of her father's death, everyone wants a piece of the treasure.

This is a gripping story that keeps the reader entertained throughout. It is full of twists and turns, that keeps the reader on edge wondering what will happen next.

The characters are well developed and very believable, as they interact with one another through the story-line,

At the beginning of each chapter, there is a nugget of wisdom that deals with horticulture and raising grapes but it also has a deeper meaning for what goes on in life. The characters also supported a great faith in God which is a good example for us in our own times of despair.

Tressa is a loveable character, and well portrayed in the novel. I can't imagine how hard it would be to trust in a time when it seems all people wanted was money. I think that she did an amazing job, with a few lessons learned.

I highly recommend this novel. I will certainly be looking for more from this author.

A must read!
It took me longer than usual to read this book purely because I didn't want it to end, so I had to keep putting it down just to savour it!
Neil Gaiman's writing style is on point in this book, it draws you right into the story. Gaiman makes you fall in love with the protagonists, and passionately hate the antagonists. He makes you question the loyalty of certain characters, and trust the ones you should have been questioning all along. Gaiman makes you feel like you are right there in London below with them.

This whole book is fantastic, the concept, the characters, the writing, the beginning; the middle; and the end. It's one of those books you never want to end, never want to put down, and could read over and over again.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Alternative 3 in TV

Alternative 3
Alternative 3
1977 | Documentary, Sci-Fi
One of the great TV hoaxes, from back when such things were still considered an acceptable jape. Made, for the most part, with great care and attention to detail, the result is very convincing and unsettling viewing - although the presence of fairly well-known actors in a couple of roles does kind of blow the gaffe a bit, long before the end.

Some people will argue that claims that this is a hoax are just a smokescreen and the makers either stumbled onto the truth or were trying to blow the whistle on a real conspiracy, which is why this show vanished into obscurity for a long while after its transmission. I really don't know, but parts of the story here do seem eerily close to reality, 40 years on, and the questions Alternative 3 raises about how much to trust the media are still pertinent today.

I enjoyed this book to point I could not put it down. I can tell you I had some bad feeling for Lonnie along with Gideon. Lonnie thinks that Gideon is a lot like her father in terms with the whiskey and believe it or not she doe not learn to listen to Gideon in terms if he was telling the true about him coming home when he went off to pay a debt.

Gideon was somewhat like Lonnie father in terms with whiskey but doe change for the family he is got. Can he really change for the love of Lonnie or does he move on.

Find out by picking this book up and reading it. The Author put some really good issues in the book and Can Lonnie learn to trust or does her mistake ruin it for her and her son.
