Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Heat Wave (Nikki Heat, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
I love the TV show Castle, so I had to check out the book the main character has been writing. The tie ins to the TV show were very fun for me. As a mystery, it was pretty good, too, although the first half was way over written.

The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated American Gods in Books

the writing is outstanding (1 more)
The premise (gods walking among us)
A little confusing, but that is the point. Made into a showtime TV show
I really enjoyed this book, but since I read it, I have forgotten almost all of it. Amazing how that can happen. The TV show brought some of it back, but even then it's still ost in my ether, kinda like these god were meant to be.

I was hooked on this tv series from the first episode. The cinematography the soundtrack the story line the actors are all excellent. Set in Birmingham in the 1920’s based on the lives of a notorious gang led by the Shelby family which is meant to be based on true stories of this era in this area. Can’t wait for the next series

Story
Ok, but not the most thrilling.
As a huge fan of John le Carré, and have enjoyed many other film/TV adaptations of his work, I couldn't wait for this one!
Unfortunately, on screen it felt particularly dull. Series like The Night Manager, and even the early TV adaptations featuring Sir Alec Guinness, this series failed to capture the mix of excitement and suspense the book provides.

Kate (355 KP) rated BBC iPlayer in Apps
Jan 23, 2019
Great for catching up on things you have missed on the BBC even if if has just finished on the TV, it appears in iplayer really quickly. Have mainly used it for programmes I have missed but occasionally have listened to odd radio show I have missed. Yes you do know have to register with an account but it is still not tied in with your TV licence.
