Was it Murder or Suicide?
Louise Faulk’s boring Thanksgiving shift at her precinct is interrupted when she is asked to go to a death scene. A young woman has killed herself and one of her twins, or at least that’s what Louise’s fellow officers think. But Louise thinks there is more to the story. Can she find the while conducting an unofficial investigation? Or will it get her fired?
This book is definitely darker than what I normally read, so keep that in mind when you pick it up. Unfortunately, the plot wanders a bit before we reach the suspenseful and logical climax. On the other hand, I did enjoy getting to spend time with Louise and the rest of the regulars. We don’t get a nice wrap up for the ongoing storylines, but we do get some advancement on them, and there aren’t any cliffhangers. The book is set at the end of 1914, and that provided a nice backdrop to the action of the book. While not the strongest book in the series, fans will enjoy our last visit with Louise.

Make Me Whole (Isle of the Forgotten, #2.5) by Tiffany Roberts
Make Me Whole is the perfect little bridge novella between Make Me Hunger and Make Me Yours. It is a story involving Quil, who we met in the previous book, as he returns to the village and woman he left so many years before. Whilst he is there, he discovers that the villagers are dying of a plague caused by a necromancer. The bodies are placed upon a ship, but we don't yet know where they are going. This is an introduction to the next book, as the twins are mentioned.
For only a novella, there is still a lot going on, with plenty of action and a fast pace. It was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. It also gives you more of an idea of the different Gods, and their meaning. With the Council and the Order in disarray, and betrayal coming from every direction, this is a brilliant addition to the series. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Benedick Lewis (3001 KP) rated Total Recall (1990) in Movies

Arnold is great in it (2 more)
Sharon Stone looks great
Great are they or aren’t they plot
One of Arnie’s best
By 1990 Schwarzenegger was in full stride and could do no wrong. He even tried his hand in comedy (Twins) with Danny De Vito and won audiences. Futuristic sci fi is where Schwarzenegger’s real strength is (The Running Man, Terminator Franchise, Eraser, Predator..) and the perfect example of this (other than Terminator 2) is Total Recall. It has everything from very quotable lines to an intriguing story which raises the bar on previous Schwarzenegger entries (originally a Philip K Dick story). The basic story line is a construction worker call Doug Quaid dreams of going to Mars but when he finally gets the chance things might not all be what they seem. Is he a secret agent? Is he on Mars? Did he get a divorce? And will those people get air? Sure it looks dated now but this was considered one of the most expensive movies made at the time and the dated graphics can be sidelined for seeing what happens to Schwarzenegger’s Quaid. If you buy the special edition dvd, you’re in for a treat also as Schwarzenegger provides his take on what a commentary is. Check it out.

It's direction. (2 more)
The courage of the people involved.
The way it's shot.
Heartbreaking. Unbelievable.
The story follows twins Alex and Marcus they are 54 years old and when they were 18 Alex lost his memory. He couldn't remember anything or anyone other than his twin brother. (All in the introduction, no spoilers here)
It is something so unique it wouldn't be believed if it wasn't true. This in itself is such an interesting premise but it's full of so many twists and turns by the end you're head is spinning.
The story is gripping, at times I thought I'm tired maybe here will be a good time to pause, go to sleep and start back up tomorrow but I couldn't switch it off. It makes you go from confusion, anger, sadness and rage in such a small amount of time.
What makes this so heartbreaking is that not only is it true, it is something I believe every person should watch. It touches on subjects that happen in peoples everyday lives and aren't talked about enough.
I sincerely hope people will watch this, appreciate these courageous men for their pure strength and if the story they tell is similar to something in your life, it will help you open up too.
