Zenless Popcorn (7 KP) rated The First Purge (2018) in Movies
Jul 11, 2018
Uncomfortable viewing, but supposed to be. (1 more)
Interesting twist near the end
Thin storyline (2 more)
Flat characters
Pointless jump scares
The series needs to be Purged.
This movie has to be the weakest in the franchise.
There's barely any story, the characters are overly stereotypical and it feels like the transitions from one area are spoon fed via viewings from the control centre.
The trailer is misleading I feel and nothing like the movie.
The movie is uncomfortable viewing beincuse of its highly political and racially charged content, but that is kind of the point....and the twist at the end made me question a few things in the other movies.

Good until the ending

Intrigued by this movie from the beginning but its use of effects and camera shots made it easy to guess the ending and the idea.
The movie is about a guy who takes his wife and daughter to the hospital and they disappear. He spends the whole movie trying to find them, while everyone is calling him crazy.
He actually does end up being crazy which is an easily guessable twist. The twist should have been that something absolutely mental was going on, would have been so much more entertaining. I was willing it to not go in the obvious and painful direction XD

Charlie Ulloa (13 KP) rated Oliver! (1968) in Movies

A classic that you have to see at least once in your life
Good direction, you get to hate the antagonists and the main actor wins your heart. Oliver Twist is a book classic if you can read the book before the movie, read it. If not, then pictured the characters as in the movie sometimes help you more.
As I said, Oliver Twist is a classic both, movie and book. You have to watch it as a must, more so, in the holidays season.

We are never allowed to get a hint of how this will ultimately end. When the rather brilliant finale comes, it is very neat twist plot that no-one could have possibly predicted.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
Well I have to say it did take me awhile to get through this book. It wasn't bad, but there were a few parts that seemed to drag a bit. The story is interesting, a twist on a classic which is a tricky prospect. This was done well.

A good book which kept me interested all the way through,it had a good twist to it that I didn't see coming, and also a good ending. This is the second Christopher Ransom book I have read and i hsve really enjoyed them both.

Great acting (1 more)
Brilliant Plot
Mind-bending horror film that defies it's expectations
In Jordan Peele's first film, he successfully expands out of cheesy horror film expectations to make a brilliantly terrifying movie that follows a mind-bending storyline packed with multitudes of twist anyone would love.
