Sarah is spending the winter months running a virtual garage sale site for her local community. When she goes to make a trade with Margaret More, she is shocked to find the woman murdered in her car. And when someone takes a picture of Sarah at the crime scene and then sends it to her, Sarah gets really worried.
This book starts out quickly and never lets up. We are always getting a twist or clue to keep us turning the pages. The characters are wonderful, and we meet some new ones I hope stick around as well. The book was over all too quickly, leaving me waiting for the next.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Like "Black Mirror" does "Cocoon"
This film sees Chris visiting his girlfriend's parents for the first time, on what turns out to be their annual get-together with friends and neighbours. Chris is somewhat taken aback by everyone's positive, curious reaction to his African-American heritage and becomes increasingly unnerved by the odd behaviour of the family's black servants.
I have to admit, I saw the twist coming from very early on but this didn't ruin the journey for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the creepy atmosphere building throughout the film and Chris' increasingly awkward interactions with his few fellow people of colour at the party.
This is not a normal horror film, except for the final half hour, instead it is an intense psychological thriller with the added social awkwardness around people's inherent racism and need to talk/not talk about it.
An excellent film with a brilliant cast.

Merissa (13422 KP) rated Succubus Soul: Veras Academy (Succubus Sirens #3) in Books
Oct 23, 2019
SUCCUBUS SOUL: VERAS ACADEMY is the third book in the Succubus Sirens series, and we meet Bry, along with Derek, Zeke, Rio, and Trey. Three of the men are princes, and one is her best friend.
This was an easy read, with most of the drama coming from Bry as she resented being 'forced' to meet with the princes with a view to marriage. Of course, that changed once she actually met them. As for Derek, she thought she shouldn't be having the feelings she was for her best friend. There was a slight twist to it as Xerxes (from book 2) made a reappearance and tried to mix things up a bit.
With a great storyline, a bunch of brilliant characters (both main and supporting), plus some very steamy bits, this was a great book to read to while away the hours. Definitely recommended by me.

Lenard (726 KP) rated The Hustle (2019) in Movies

When I first heard they were making a gender-flipped version of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," I feared that it could be misogynistic based on the end of the English language remake of the French original. The Frank Oz-directed "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" is a classic comedy with a original twist. This female-centric remake is rarely funny and inoffensive. Anne Hathaway gets to practice three of her Meryl Streep accents. Rebel Wilson plays the uncouth low level con artist piggishly. When the two met on a train to St Tropez where Anne runs elaborate cons on rich tourists, Anne is not threatened but she realizes Rebel could ruin her trade. So she continuously schemes ways to rid herself of the slouch. The whole movie could have ended if Rebel just found a real policeman and unmasked Anne, but that would not make great cinema so we are stuck with this stinker.

Character development (2 more)
Suspenseful story line
Compelling plot
Our survivors have fought off the dead, the wailers and there own kind to make it out to the Mallard Hill. It’s no oasis either...just more humans being beasts.
Prospect Heath virtually implodes, finding and retrieving Sadie becomes the major agenda as it doesn’t look like they are going to achieve a cure any other way.
Characters are developed at a lightening speed, their mutations are not these ‘now I’m a super hero’ but far more gritty, (gross) and so very real. Paul’s mutation makes my skin crawl!
The stakes just get higher as more people are picked off and the big TWIST, but I won’t say what that is. I will let you enjoy the ‘OMG’ moment when you find out who project Re-gen really is...and all that it implies!
Excuse me everyone, Book 3 awaits!!

Jordan Binkerd (567 KP) rated Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003) in Movies

The Angels are hot, which is basically the point. (5 more)
Crispin Glover
Good villain casting
I thought the action was better than the first one
Ridiculous double-entendres
Carrie Fisher
Bernie Mac is a poor substitute for Bill Murray (1 more)
Plot is basic and predictable
More dumb fun
While not as well received as the first film (probably down to losing Bill Murray), this is still a good deal of fun. The action works a little better for me than the first time around, the girls are still hot, still kicking ass.... what more do you want from a Charlie's Angels film? The plot is a bit basic and predictable, but being up against a former Angel (not a twist, though the writer seems to think it is) gave the conflict a bit more heart than the first one. It's a dumb action movie, but still fun.
