Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated Scythe in Tabletop Games

Scythe: The Kotaku Review
It’s not every day you get to rampage through the 1920s countryside in control of a fleet of giant mechs.
Scythe is a new board game from Stonemaier Games. If the art up top (which is on the front of the game’s box) looks familiar, that’s because the entire game is based on a universe imagined by artist Jakub Rozalski, which we featured on Fine Art a few years back and which is now also getting a video game.

Super Marios Bros- begins the trend of movies based off of video games. What a start. This film is not even close the game. Mario last name is mario, what? Mario is luigi's father but also his brother? What? Instead of peach, its daisy why? Bowser favorite food is pizza. Goombas look like shit. Toad is not toad. A great cast, wasted on this shit. All of the actors who were in the film, hate the film. Lots of injuries on the set. Super mario Bros. More like super shit bros. Also daisy's father is a alien???

Smart, funny, and a pretty good tune!
Dumb Ways to Die in one word: Hilarious.
A game based on the Darwin Awards is a brilliant idea, and the games creators should be proud of themselves.
The levels are always entertaining, sometimes tricky, and probably not suitable for playing in public. Mainly because you occasionally have to blow into the microphone for some reason, or steer with your phone, and you do tend to look ridiculous.
Well worth a play, and a listen, as there is a song, which will get stuck in your head!

David Cronenberg’s take on the future of video games is a highly unique and original piece of storytelling and could in some ways be a companion piece to his earlier ‘Videodrome’ tackling similar themes of the body and its relationship with technology. Cronenberg’s script frequently pulls the rug out from under you as he blurs the lines between reality and game. The use of technology born out of reality such as the bone gun and bio ports also means even 20 years later the film hasn’t really dated. A thoroughly entertaining slice of cerebral sci-fi from the master of weird.
