Jcadden76 (64 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) in Movies

You can't beat a movie with a Basilisk
As the second in the series, Chamber of Secrets knocks it out of the park. It might not be my favorite in the series but that is a poor choice of words, they are all tremendous.
Chamber of Secrets for me, hits the hardest at the very end of the movie. The tone of the movie as a whole is much darker than our first outing in The Sorcerer's Stone, but the end is very tragic and traumatic and thought provoking. You have the backstory on the main villain of the series, the potential death of a couple of main characters... there is a just a lot going on!
This is one of the series that I can put on and just enjoy as background noise. Worth a re-watch if it has been a while for you.

Silly fun
Rampage is one of those films where you get exactly what you expect. It’s completely ridiculously and silly, but at the same time quite fun and entertaining. The graphics are really good for the most part, and Dwayne Johnson is always likeable in any film he’s in which helps. I also absolutely adore Jeffrey Dean Morgan and in this he seems to play a nicer version of Negan, and he’s one of those people that automatically lights up the screen whenever he’s in a scene.
This film suffers from a bit of a weak plot though, and Malin Ackerman as the villain is very weak indeed. It’s also very over the top (as expected), and does get a bit cheesy at times.
This is definitely one of those films where you leave your brain at the door and enjoy it for what it unashamedly is: silly entertaining fun.

David McK (3857 KP) rated Live Free or Die Hard (2007) in Movies
Dec 10, 2019
Known simply as 'Die Hard 4.0' in the UK, this sees Bruce Willis's NYPD cop John McClane sent to pick up a computer hacker (Justin Long) for the FBI, before getting caught up in increasingly preposterous events.
But, then again, it's Die Hard!
Unlike the John McClane of the original, this version does come across as somewhat of an 80s throwback action figure, quipping his way throughout the film:
"You took down a helicopter, with a car?!?"
"I was out of bullets"
being, for me, the best line of the entire film (and that was changed in the Die Harder edition).
this is also the one that Bruce Willis, in a truck, faces off against a Harrier Jump Jet, and is the one where McClane is described by the villain as:
"a Timex watch in a digital age"
which should give you some idea of the general outline of the plot!

Jordan Binkerd (567 KP) rated Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003) in Movies
Aug 7, 2019
The Angels are hot, which is basically the point. (5 more)
Crispin Glover
Good villain casting
I thought the action was better than the first one
Ridiculous double-entendres
Carrie Fisher
Bernie Mac is a poor substitute for Bill Murray (1 more)
Plot is basic and predictable
More dumb fun
While not as well received as the first film (probably down to losing Bill Murray), this is still a good deal of fun. The action works a little better for me than the first time around, the girls are still hot, still kicking ass.... what more do you want from a Charlie's Angels film? The plot is a bit basic and predictable, but being up against a former Angel (not a twist, though the writer seems to think it is) gave the conflict a bit more heart than the first one. It's a dumb action movie, but still fun.

Greg Norvick (23 KP) rated Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) in Movies
May 1, 2021
Wonder woman 84 has sequeitis basically the first one was great we have to pump the other one fast. Patti Jenkins (hopefully I spelled it right) just was like I know what I'm doing also getting limited production with covid didn't help. I felt like steve would just come back not in someone else body would work because they did dangerous stuff and they didn't think twice or acknowledge that he really shouldn't do that. Also not rally acknowledge it I didn't think he was inhabiting another body till the end also kristen wiig's character was such a change to evil. It didn't feel like a villain for Diana, also it seems she does that character slot overall great character growth on Diana. Cheetah look could be better. It's ok
Sarah (7800 KP) rated The Losers (2010) in Movies

Enjoyably fun
Let's be honest, The Losers is never going to win any awards. However if you're looking for something entertaining and fun to pass 90 minutes, you can't really go wrong with this.
It's got a great cast, who doesn't love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Chris Evans? The rest of the cast too are very good and well rounded, and Jason Patric is an absolute riot as the over the top villain. Seriously he's hilarious. The plot is straight forward and the CGI is a little sketchy at times, but it's difficult to care as this film is just so much fun. Considering this is an action film, I laughed more at this than I've done in some outright comedies. If you're looking for something that's bags of fun and doesnt take itself too seriously, this is the film for you.
