It only took 5 years.

Which, for an immortal, is nothing.

For us mere mortals, however, it's a long enough time to wait for a sequel to the 2020 original, with this following on from that and again following Andy of Scythia (Charlize Theron) and her fellow immortal warriors, who never know when they are going to lose said immortality (she already has).

I do have to say, though, I didn't find this *quite* as enjoyable as the first - I also have to say, ending on a cliff-hanger, as it does (somewhat reminiscent of the end of The Empire Strikes Back), I do hope we don't have to wait another 5 years for those loose ends to be tied up!

Second entry in Michael Arnold's 'Savage Isles' series (after 'The Savage Isle'), with - following the end of that previous entry - the Roman army now having established a foothold in Britain.

You might thinking the 'The River Warriors' of the title refers to a tribe of local Britons, resisting the Roman invasion.

You'd be mistaken - they are actually more the villains of the piece, with the story again following Cullen of the Atrebates, who is dispatched by Aoife the Druid to seek out and return a mysterious religious totem as the two armies prepare for battle on the river Vaga.

I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first, but reckon I still will continue on with the series anyways.

Undoubted leader of the pack when it comes to post-punk low-budget SF movies is, let's be honest, highly derivative, but makes up for this with sheer inventiveness and economical storytelling; unusually grim tone helps, too.

Future warriors from post-apocalyptic future arrive in 1984 Los Angeles; one is intent on killing hapless young waitress, the other seeks to protect her. Time travel plot is cleverly retooled as the basis of gritty action thriller; performances are much better than you might expect, too - you can't imagine anyone being more perfectly suited to their role than Arnold Schwarzenegger is here (and I don't say that very often). Every other film and TV series in this particular franchise ultimately does nothing but diffuse the impact of this brilliant movie.
