Welsh sacred water mythology sits at the heart of August's theme, and this week, it's worth looking at what the tradition actually understands about wisdom and how it moves through the world.

The sacred pool in Welsh mythology isn't a simple magical resource. It's a repository of accumulated virtue, built through generations of genuine attention. The hazel drops its nuts of knowledge into the water. The salmon rises and carries what it receives upstream through patience and persistence, the wisdom becoming embodied over time rather than simply possessed.

That model — wisdom earned through experience and accumulated through continuing — runs through the Welsh mythological tradition and through a significant portion of the Story Hearth catalogue. The sacred pool, the upstream journey, the patient accumulation of what the season gives. August is exactly the right month for it.

I like the final battle
This season continued it brutality and sex theme with a passion which lead the the climax episode of Blackwater. This series is spectacular for visual effect especially at Blackwater. Tyrion Arya remain my favorite characters the introduction of J Horg was interesting and as usual people we love hate and love to hate die.

A missing teen, a skull with a bullet hole, and a mysterious grad student make up this mystery. The plot slowed a bit in the second quarter, but picked up again for the second half. As always, the characters and writing are top notch.

Probably the best film of its type. I have seen a few films that were based around avoiding a huge Croc in perilous circumstances. Some had really bad effects like Crocodile, or just plain cheesey like Lake Placid 2, Blood Surf. This was more like another film called Black water. I found this more interesting though and the Crocodile looks more believable. Worth checking out.

Ground breaking dino animation that ensured that this blockbuster made a massive impact upon its release.
Who remembers holding their breath when seeing the vibration in the cups of water and not knowing who was next to end up in dino poop!
Effects still hold true today even though it may have lost a bit of impact against the new gen of monster effects.

"Although this movie portrays the very real and gritty life on a river barge, there is something so poetic in it. You’ll never forget the contrast between Père Jules (Michel Simon)—who can puff smoke from a cigarette out of the face tattooed around his belly button—and the romantic belief of Juliette (Dita Parlo) that you can see the image of your true love in water."

"Starlite Walker by Silver Jews. This doesn’t get talked about too much because people tend to talk about American Water when they talk about Silver Jews. This is the best album though. The first song “Trains Across the Sea” has the same chords as our song “The Wall.” David Berman is my favorite lyricist ever; I love his book of poems called Actual Air."
