"I discovered Jean Rhys thru Jon an anarchist bookseller in London in 2012 who runs a book barge Word On The Water. He approached me with this book of short stories. Written mainly in the late 20's and 30's. Rhys's voice is utterly contemporary. She writes from her own life with an unsparing eye capturing the essence of outsider women left to their own devices, caught up in bad relationships, and loneliness in rented rooms and café's in London and Paris."

An Upside-Down World
Poseidon- is a intense thriller.

The plot: After a huge tidal wave capsizes a luxury liner in the North Atlantic, individual survivors (Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Jacinda Barrett) band together and traverse a hazardous upside-down maze that they hope will take them to safety. As the wrecked vessel fills with water, the survivors must call on hidden strengths and skills to face the fight of their lives.

It has a good cast and a intense survival thriller.

"I know, I know… indie cred is now out the window. But what can I say? Mark and I saw this film at Christmas 1994 in a movie theater, and I laughed so hard I sweat out 5 lbs of water weight and got rock hard abs in the process. We took a camping road trip to the mountains and almost froze to death because of it. I’ve seen it probably 20-plus times and it just makes me so happy every time."

Mark Twain | 2012 | Fiction & Poetry

"Like Orwell, Twain is better-known for his canonical fiction, but he was also a genius of observation, and this early work, which is broadly non-fiction, about his early career as a riverboat pilot, is my favorite. It’s not uproarious, like “Roughing It,” but it dives deep into its milieu. “The face of the water, in time, became a wonderful book—a book that was a dead language to the uneducated passenger, but which told its mind to me without reserve.”"
