The story follows their childhood, teens, twenties and present day, all in the form of flashback chapters.
I really enjoyed this book: it's melancholy and just plain sad at times, but a well-written, thoughtful novel.
Many thanks to the author and The Pigeonhole (a social reading platform) for my copy of this book.

Not the kind of film you walk home from whistling, unless you're some kind of militant celibacy advocate, but an undeniably fine one (or so it seems to me): very good performances from the young stars, and well-judged direction. Initially the film seems like a slightly dark comedy-drama of manners (the excruciating scenes of people failing to have sex are very awkward to watch), but it develops into something profoundly moving and deeply sad before the end. Thank God for the permissive society.

The stories and insights are interesting enough to keep you from wishing you'd just watched a DVD of the movie instead, and they have hunted up some fascinating footage to illustrate the film, ranging from the Temptations doing a very funky version of 'If I Were A Rich Man' to Lin-Manuel Miranda's wedding video. The film addresses the central paradox about this show - that something so very specific in time, place and outlook has such universal appeal and emotional power - but doesn't really attempt to explain it. This is probably quite wise, as it is one of the mysteries of great art. Worth a look if you like the show, which everyone with a heart and a soul who's actually seen it surely does.

Paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) are back again. The opening events serve as a continuation of the first film. When they leave their daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace), in the hands of babysitter Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman) and her friend Daniela (Katie Sarife) the inquizitive trio release the unwanted entity into the house.
These films are a mine field of jump scares and elongated tension. But that seems to be lacking as it takes time to really get going. When it does it is nothing that we haven’t experienced before. There are a few effective moments. Ghosts with coins on their eyes and a woman in a wedding dress provide some spine chilling scenes – but that is as far as it goes.
