Dean (6924 KP) rated Just Married (2003) in Movies

An ok Rom-com, not the worst, far from the best. I thought the more recent What happens in Vegas was better. You might like Wedding crashers as well if you like this.
Wedding planner Kelsey McKenna takes on some clients planning a Napa County wedding a month before their big day. While Babs, the wedding planner they had been using, is very professional about these clients leaving, her assistant, Stefan, isn’t. Still, Kelsey is shocked to find a dead body in the office when she comes to pick up her new client’s file. With her reputation on the line, Kelsey has to find a way to clear her name.
I loved the first in this series, and this book is just as wonderful. Kelsey, her friend Brody, and her assistant Laurel, make a wonderful trio, and their friendship and banter is a pure delight. The suspects introduced here are just as strong, and make it hard to distinguish clue from red herring until Kelsey figures it all out at the end. This is a wedding you’ll be glad you crashed.
NOTE: I received an eARC of this book.

Karla Dee (6 KP) rated Twice As Perfect in Books

From high school debate team to a super star character I feel like this story has it all. Adanna Nkwachi is living up to her parents dreams by choosing one of their approved professions. She is top tier debater on her way to going to law school, but things begin to change as she learns more about why her brother left and living his dreams as a poet.
All while this is going on her cousin Genny is getting married to Afrobeats superstar Skeleboy. This story has a lot going on and def has range from hs debate to wedding preparations. TBH I was sucked in by the wedding aspect of it all since I just finished the book Destination Wedding by Diksha Basu. I love the excitement of love birds and the drama that goes into making the wedding happen. There is always some tea and I am here for it. The cherry on top was the groom is a famous singer which was something different that gives off JLOs Let's get married vibez <3 <3 <3

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2086 KP) rated Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii (Mr. Monk, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Natalie is heading to Hawaii for a friend's wedding, but unfortunately Monk tags along. When a wedding guest is murdered, Monk finds some flaws in the crime scene. Will the new horrors of the island distract him from solving the case? There are some distractions to the main mystery, but they are entertaining. This is another great read for fans of the series.

Weddings and Killers
Sophie “Phee” Kimball is settling into her new life in Arizona, but it’s about to get crazier thanks to her aunt’s recent engagement. Phee keeps getting asked to help plan the wedding, and finds herself juggling her job as the accountant for a PI, the wedding, and her mother’s phone calls of outrage about the wedding. Phee’s PI boss is working on a murder that took place near her mother’s house, and as Phee works on the wedding, she begins to wonder if there is a connection. Can she solve the case?
I loved the first book in the series, so I was looking forward to revisiting the characters. Sadly, this one didn’t live up to the first. The mystery was overshadowed by the wedding plans. I expected they would come together at some point, but that point came a little late in the book for my tastes. Meanwhile, the climax to the mystery was a little weak as well. Some of the characters walked a fine line between funny and annoying in the first book, and I found them more annoying than funny here. That’s not all the characters. Phee herself is still a strong and sympathetic main character, and I really like several of the supporting characters. And that isn’t to say I didn’t laugh over the course of the book either. I especially laughed at the climax. Considering how much I enjoyed the first book, I’m definitely going to give Phee another visit.
