Twisted
Not sure what I expected from this one but the description only scratches the surface. This one is not for kids or the feint of heart as the material is very graphic(violence, nudity, sex). The acting was ok and the cinematography good but the story was just weird. Somewhat predictable(not completely) it played out slowly like a "group" version of "The Wicker Man". If you're into "cult" style stories(in the guise of ancient nordic traditions) you'll enjoy this slow burner. Otherwise, not really worth a watch.
A European Masterpiece
*SEASON 1* An incredible piece of TV.This has the lot, beautiful photography,a mind bending storyline and some amazing atmospheric music.
Set in a small German town with a child has gone missing you think that this is just going to be another mystery or drama show that deals with said child I promise you it's not. There are other weird things going on in this town and nearly every person in it has a secret or something to hide.
This show is something special.Looking forward to starting season 2 ASAP.

Odd Thriller
A reasonable but slightly odd quirky Thriller. From the Trailer you guess there is going to be some weird quirky reveal into what is going on. The sets and feel of the film look good and with a good Cast. Just took a bit long to get to the reason of what was going on and why. One for those who enjoy films that are very different to the norm if far from a classic.

Rosalind, Bianca, and Cordelia are the Andreas sisters. Rosalind(Rosie) is a professor at the local college, Bianca(Bean) is off in New York, working and enjoying the nightlife, Cordelia(Cordy)is riding the wind wherever it takes her. One summer, they all show up back at home. Although Rosie has never left the town they grew up with, she is staying with her parents a lot more now. Cordy & Bean show up, just when they are needed most. Their mother is sick and is going to need their help. Each sister has been drawn home for a different reason, but being home will change them all.
The Weird Sisters is a weird book. It was written in the third person, but I didn't know which sister was speaking at the time. Maybe this is because I listened to the audio instead of reading the actual book, but I found it strange that it seemed like they were talking about each other, but you never knew who was speaking at that time. Maybe there was a fourth sister.
This book was just okay for me. It was an interesting story, but there wasn't anything that really stood out for me to make this a great book.

Weird and a little overrated
I thought this book was more of a historical epic, and although it's based around the history of one family, I hadn't expected the deep fantasy elements throughout the story.
To begin with this book was a revelation - it was weird and wonderful, entertaining and a little bit bonkers. However this for me could only keep me going so far. Around 2/3 of the way through I started to get a little bit bored and getting through the remainder of the book was such a drag. The book has a sort of dreamlike quality to it and the plot and narrative moves and jumps around quite a lot and it did become a little difficult to follow. It wasn't helped by the fact that nearly all characters had different variations of the same 3 names, so it was a massive issue trying to remember which person was being spoken about. The characters themselves were also fairly unlikable and you can only read for so long when you don't like the characters.
It's an interesting story and a very unusual plot and writing style, but I just wish it had been at the very least a little shorter. Not one I'd read again.

Lee (2222 KP) rated Truth or Dare (2018) in Movies

Average, not really scary at all
A bunch of spring breakers visit an old abandoned mission building in Mexico one night and play a game of truth or dare. Unfortunately though, the game follows them back home and they must continue to play or face the consequences. The supernatural game follows the same order of play from the night they first played, and when it's your turn you either see the words 'truth or dare' written wherever you go, or people around you take on a weird grinning face and say the words until you answer. If you refuse to play or fail your dare, you die a gruesome death.
The trouble with this movie is that it's not remotely scary. The face that everyone pulls when possessed by the spirit running the game is like some weird Snapchat filter, more funny than spooky. The acting is ok, but everyone plays their roles deadly serious. It's a ridiculous concept and it should have played on that more as pure entertainment rather than as a horror, which this most definitely isn't.
It was watchable enough though, and I was happy to see it through to the end. Unfortunately though, that ending builds up to a big, ridiculous cop out leaving you very disappointed.
