Doing Wright ( Teach Me book 1)
By Raven Dark
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Nineteen year old Jacy is a college girl with a wild and wicked streak. She's always had a penchant for older men, so it's no surprise she'd fantasize about being taken by her professor in every possible way. Then again, her imagination has always gotten her into trouble.
When the sinfully gorgeous Mr. Wright shows up at her door one night, she's sure she can tempt the brooding alpha male into taking control and claiming what he needs, but at what price?
Whether it's on her knees or bent over a bed, he'll give her a night she'll never forget, but she's been to this party before with disastrous results. Will their tryst be the best night of her life, or the worst mistake she's ever made?
It’s exactly as described! A short novel with well written hot sex! Not much else to say!

Merissa (13419 KP) rated All of the Voices (Southern Spirits #3) in Books
Apr 18, 2023
The third in the Southern Spirits series concentrates on Deputy Matt from McKinton and Nephew Carlin from New York. Matt has his roots firmly entrenched in McKinton and, even though he's not had much luck so far, is content within his own skin. Carlin has been openly out of the closet for years and doesn't want to like McKinton after witnessing the hate attack against Zeke years previously.
The story blossoms between these two as they come to terms with grief and responsibility, knowing that a future between them just isn't possible right now. This is a sweet and hot story that is well-told and smoothly paced. I'll admit to being surprised at reading the synopsis and seeing Carlin's name. I was sure that it would be Matt and Rich. However, after reading this, I can't imagine it any other way. Loved it and definitely recommended.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Fall [Audiobook] in Books
Apr 30, 2023
This was an enjoyable book to listen to partly because of the mystery surrounding who pushed Caily off the bridge but also because of the excellent narration.
There are lots of elements and sub-stories to this book which created additional mystery to an already intriguing story. There are a lot of characters and the book is told from multiple points of view however, whilst you might think this would be confusing, it is anything but ... the narrator does an excellent job of being able to distinguish between each of the characters with subtle changes.
Louise Jenson managed to create a lot of tension and some great plot twists that caught me off guard. The pace worked well for me and I found myself looking for reasons to listen for a bit longer ... even hoping for a traffic jam!!!
Overall, a really good book to read/listen to with loads to hold your interest and my thanks go to HQ an imprint of HarperCollins UK Audio and NetGalley for enabling me to listen to and share my thoughts of The Fall.

Merissa (13419 KP) rated Christmas Flame (Flame #4.1) in Books

We return to the Five Kingdoms for a quick, seasonal story involving Kyle Drake (vampire) and Verena (wolf shifter). Drake has been trying to spend some time with Verena for a while now, and his plans finally come to fruition. However, life has a way of getting in between them, so Drake is very surprised when things move on with Verena in a way that he hoped for, but never expected.
These two together are dynamite. They make a decision and stand by it, understanding that the world is full of shades of grey, rather than simply being black and white. I loved the mention of the other couples that I have got to know, as they made a brief appearance.
Well-written and smoothly paced, this is a fast read that will bring you a seasonal smile. Definitely recommended.

Karla Dee (6 KP) rated Bad City: Peril and Power in the City of Angels in Books
Aug 26, 2022
My prima just moved back to the midwest after being in hollywood and wow did I hear some stories about dark hollwood, woah! I can't share that business but I can share what I read in this book about a Doctor who uses his power and money to control heroine and meth addicts in Cali. I love how the author pursues this story even though the whole city and all the magazine editors are in the Doctors pocket. Honestly the city of Pasadena seemed very nice and bougie before Paul Pringle exposed the city hall and the police department in having covered up an overdose where a girl could have died. A good Samaritan working at the hotel tipped off authorities which led to Pringle finding about the case and believing that there is a cover up. Pringle's persistence in getting a well to do university to talk and the police department to write up a report they had ignored at first just shows a little of his badass detective work. Def recommend reading the whole report aka book <3
Hazel (2934 KP) rated Never Seen Again in Books
Mar 13, 2022
I admit to being a fan of Mr Finch's work, having read and thoroughly enjoyed a few of his previous works and Never Seen Again is yet another one to add to the collection.
Here we have a twisty and dark thriller with a plot that is complex which although develops quite slowly, it ramps up and quickly becomes a rollercoaster of a ride with lots of tension and action.
The characters are excellent and well developed. The main character, David, is a journalist who starts off with few scruples and, as a consequence, I found he isn't a particularly likeable person ... at the start at least; he does grow on you as the story progresses. He and his sidekicks, Anushka and Norm, make a great team and I wonder if there is more to come from them? I certainly hope so.
Overall, a great read and I my thanks must go to Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) in Movies
Mar 29, 2022
The 5th entry in the Hellraiser series is certainly a mixed bag. It's has a script and narrative that clearly threw in Hellraiser elements as an afterthought, really scales back on the cenobite stuff, and has some truly dodgy effects work.
With all that being said, everything about Inferno that's surrounds those points is pretty positive. The corrupt cop who cheats on his wife/snorts coke/is a general asshole whilst trying to solve a huge case trope has been done a million times, but it lends itself well to the conditions of the lament configuration. The films whole vibe screams David Lynch, and there's some genuinely creepy imagery delivered with ambition by a feature-debuting Scott Derrickson, clearly showing off some stylistic choices that he would go on to hone in his future successful career.
Throw in some decent gore and a pretty solid cast, and we're left with a Hellraiser film that would 100% be seen in a more favourable light if it had been afforded a bigger budget.

The Last Mrs Parish ( Last Mrs Parish book 1)
By Liv Constantine
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
How far would you go to make all your dreams come true?
Amber Patterson is tired of being a nobody: an invisible woman who melts into the background. She deserves more. She deserves a life of wealth, luxury and leisure.
Daphne Parrish is the golden girl of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut. With her model looks, her picture-perfect mansion and her millionaire husband, Jackson, she has everything Amber wants.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive—if she didn’t have a plan. Before long, she has become Daphne’s closest friend, and is catching the eye of Jackson. But a skeleton from her past could destroy everything, and if discovered, Amber’s well-laid plan may end in disaster…
Bloody brilliant! Had me gripped from start to finish so many little twists and such a brilliant outcome. I’ve never read liv Constantine but will be reading a lot more of her!
Highly recommend!
