Kevin Phillipson (10021 KP) rated Davy crockett king of the wild frontier (1955) in Movies

Andy K (10821 KP) rated Black Panther (2018) in Movies
Jun 23, 2018 (Updated Jun 23, 2018)
I can't believe how well this movie did at the box office compared to the actual quality of the film. You'll never say a MCU doesn't look beautiful, have gorgeous sets, costumes and good casting, but that is just not enough these days.
Being completely unfamiliar with the Black Panther comics I was going in cold, but it seemed like some of the characters just weren't that interesting or had any place to go. There were extended periods within the film where not much happens and I felt bored. Some of the CGI was also sketchy at best.
I have been on record being not the biggest MCU fan in general and if this is the highest grossing of all of them, that just isn't right.
I guess I should watch Infinity War now.
Running & Being
Book
Written by the late, beloved Dr. George Sheehan, Running & Being tells of the author's midlife...
Trails of Love is a fall quick story with no real angst in the storyline. Both come from big families and have their own agendas in life to forward their successes. They fit together pretty well and have little rearranging of life and/or goals to make a relationship work.
Story reads well and pretty seamlessly, but one issue and had me grating my teeth was Morgyn's nickname of "Cracker" for Graham. It just didn't work for me at all and I groaned everytime I read it. That being said, the rest of the story was well written, not a knock me off my seat story but sweet and romantic. I received an advance copy without expectation for review, any and all opinions expressed are my own. This continuation of the Bradens and Mongomerys series is well worth the read.
Hazel (2934 KP) rated Savage (Ravaged World Trilogy #3) in Books
Oct 6, 2019 (Updated Oct 6, 2019)
Savage is more than your typical zombie apocalypse story, it doesn't focus on the zombies and the usual eating-fest that accompanies such stories, it is more about the survivors and their quest to remain human both literally and figuratively.
I have to say that I enjoyed this trilogy and found Savage neatly finishes the series with satisfaction although not without some losses on the way! There aren't many books that make my eyes leak and I certainly didn't expect a horror/zombie book to do this but Savage did! I think it's because the author creates characters so well you get attached to them and when one of them is killed, it affects you ... well it did me anyway when one particular character met their end.
Well written, excellent characters, perfect setting, great pace and plenty of tension makes this a great read.
