Mothergamer (1517 KP) rated Concrete Genie in Video Games
Jun 28, 2021
I found this game to be quite charming and loved the whimsical and brightly colored art style. Playing as Ash was interesting seeing his perspective and getting some insight through him as to why his bullies were targeting him. The controls for the game are great because of the accessibility settings. The story itself is simple, but good because it is well told and you get a lot of those feelings through Ash's art. It's not very long, I finished it in about 5 hours, but there's a lot of great gameplay and art in it. There's also a photo mode and a free paint mode which add a little something extra to the game. You know when a book just leaves you stunned and you can no longer think about anything other than that book, that's the feeling I got when I finished this.
Characters are amazing, plot is so unique, if you love stories about God's, mysteries and, well, stories, this is an amazing book.

Cori June (3033 KP) rated The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in Books
Oct 17, 2018
A whimsical read that holds up exceptionally well. The absurd adventures of Arthur Dent and his friend Ford Prefect as they roam the universe will have you laughing. These books are full of surprisingly deep thought, contradictions, the importance of always knowing where your towel is, and even the answer to life the universe & everything. No guarantees that it will make since.

This whimsical read follows Max as Max prepares for bed. However, the moon is missing so this brave kitty decides to go out and find it. The illustrations are beautiful and this is the perfect bedtime story to read to your child.

This movie is my childhood. Howl is the guy I aspire to be with and Sophie is the whimsical beauty I wish I could be. It is by far my favourite Studio Ghibli movie and will continue to be far into the future. I love the story and the romance, how Howl and Sophie battle things together and eventually realise their love for each other. Beautiful.
Shaun Collins (3 KP) rated Doctor Who: Twelve Doctors of Christmas in Books
Jan 12, 2018
A fun and whimsical collection of short stories featuring each of the Doctors and set at Christmas time. Of course, some of the stories by the various artists are better than others, but there was only one that I felt was not up to the same quality as the others (the second Doctor story) and yet it was still enjoyable. A great, read for the holidays. Full review coming at www.travelingthevortex.com
Tom Turner (388 KP) rated The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in Books
Apr 30, 2021
Though there were sections that don't feature in the public consciousness a much as others (mainly due I suppose to how much they feature in the 1939 classic movie adaptation.) this book was precisely what I was expecting and hoping it would be, wonderfully whimsical with a dash of the macabre. Now I'm more excited than ever to continue through the 13 other books in L Frank Baum's Oz series!

Horrorifically Wonderful
I absolutely loved this. As someone who grew up watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch this was a beautifully darker twist to the story. They seemed to truly master the darker side of witchcraft and combine it with the true whimsical nature that comes with the original storyline. I couldn't look away and the season finale only left me wanting more as a anxiously wait in anticipation for the next season.

Lots of action at the start but not a lot in the remainder of the novel
Will they?
This novel starts with the same level of action that is expected from the previous instalment in the series, although this quickly diminishes as the story continues. I found the majority of this story to be whimsical but lacking any action as the author attempts to build the story to a grand finale which never quite happens.
