Erika (17789 KP) rated Tomb Raider: The Beginning in Books

Woooof this comic was not needed at all. It was the unnecessary prequel to The Season of the Witch. I got more information from that volume about what happened before than this one.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2340 KP) rated The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy find a magic wardrobe leads them to a new land, they also learn they hold the key to a prophecy that will end the eternal winter brought on by an evil witch. I first read this book in 3rd grade. I loved it then. I love it now. A magical story that captures the imagination.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Putting on the Witch (Retired Witches Mystery #3) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
Putting on the Witch is a part urban fantasy, and part cozy mystery. Ive read (and enjoyed) other paranormal cozies, but Putting on the Witch is in a class of its own. The fantasy element and magical world building was wonderfully done. The mystery is well-written, the characters are likable (at least most of them are!), and I loved every word of it.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Bubble Witch 3 Saga in Apps

I love the Bubble Witch games. They're some of the only games I play on my phone (as I have a Nintendo 3DS and play games on that). It's completely addictive, and I really like the graphics.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In 1612 Lancaster, England, the hunt for witches has reached a fever pitch . . .
But in a time of suspicion and accusation, to be a woman may be the greatest risk of all.
Fleetwood Shuttleworth, the mistress of Pendle Hill’s Gawthorpe Hall, is with child. Anxious to produce an heir, she is distraught to find a letter from her physician that warns her husband she will not survive this pregnancy.
Devastated, Fleetwood wanders the estate grounds, where she catches a young woman poaching. Alice Gray claims she is a local midwife and promises to help Fleetwood deliver a healthy baby. But a witch-obsessed frenzy sweeps the countryside. Even woodland creatures or “familiars” are thought to be dark companions of the unholy. And Alice soon stands accused of witchcraft.
Time is running out. The witch trials are about to begin. With both their lives at stake, Fleetwood must prove Alice’s innocence. Only they know the truth.
Set against the real Pendle witch trials, this compelling novel draws its characters from historical figures as it explores the lives of seventeenth-century women. Ultimately it raises the question: Was witch hunting really just women hunting?
I absolutely loved it! Completely devoured it in 1 day! I’ve always loved the stories that are based on the Pendall witch trials and this was so so good!
The characters and story kept me glued to they book.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (Wicked Years, #1) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
I was warned off of this book by a friend of mine, but I figured since I am FINALLY going to see the musical in January I'd give it a shot. Boy am I ever glad I did! I really enjoyed it!! This is another book that should allow half stars, because truly it is a 4.5 not a 4. The only reason it isn't 5 is that there are a few parts that drag, but not enough that I didn't enjoy the book as a whole.
Wicked tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West. It is incredibly interesting to see the famous story from another character's point of view. I must admit there were things that surprised me completely. I was always fascinated by the Witch when I was younger & now she makes so much more sense. I was never afraid of her, but her Flying Monkeys were another story.
I don't want to say too much & give anything away, but let's just say the Wicked Witch never intended to be wicked, nor was she really a witch! Mind blown!!! :)
