Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Season 1 in TV
Aug 9, 2017
Titus Andromedon - literally my favourite character (1 more)
John Hamm is such a good villain
Slightly ridiculous, over the top comedy
While this series is rather funny and watchable, there are times it's utterly cringe-worthy and I really did not like how the court scenes were handled. It's an incredibly dark topic, which writer Tina Fey does an almost excellent job of hilarity, but it falls short because it should never have been done given the horrible spate of male violence against women, and women being held against their will.

Disappointing Direction for the Series
The series title, 'The Haunting' led me to believe that the series would be centred on a haunting - or even hauntings (multiple) - but it really isn't.
The writing feels rushed, it's poorly edited with inconsistencies, and seems to 'borrow' a lot from other writers and stories.
I wasn't sure whether to continue with the series, given how disappointed I was with this book, but given that the whole series was included in the Kindle Unlimited subscription, I decided to give the writer the benefit of the doubt.

Lenard (726 KP) rated Beautiful Boy (2018) in Movies
May 8, 2019
Beautiful Boy is a heartbreaking look at addiction. The son is a drug addict. He can be sweet and loving, but his life is chaotic and a burden to his family. Timothee Chalamet plays the son realistically and reveals all the layers within, trying to stay sober when all your nerves are telling you to fall. The father is also an addict. He is addicted to helping his son no matter the cost. Luckily he is a very rich man, both as a sucessful writer and with a supportive wife.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2554 KP) rated Death of a Trophy Wife (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #9) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Freelance writer Jaine Austen is trying to land The Mattress King as a new client when his much younger wife is murdered at a party she is giving. Considering she wasn't well liked, Jaine is surprised when her neighbor is accused of the crime. Can Jaine clear him? The mystery was a little too familiar here, but the jokes and crazy situations kept me turning pages in this fast read.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2554 KP) rated Naked Heat (Nikki Heat, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Gossip columnist Cassidy Towne has been murdered, and Nikki Heat must solve this high profile case quickly. To make this worse, writer Jameson Rook was profiling Cassidy, so Nikki must reunite with Rook to try to find the killer. Lots of great action and plenty of fun for fans of the TV show Castle. The writing was definitely better this time around, too, although it still could have smoothed out in a few spots.

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated The Girl, The Gold Tooth, and Everything: A Novel in Books
Feb 13, 2018
OK, so 8 days later ( there should be a clue there) and I'm finally finished. Francine Lasala is a great writer with an amazing imagination but i really struggled with this book and until i got about half way, i even toyed with the idea of not finishing it, only my need to know what the hell was going on with Mina and who's real and who's not made me continue. I feel really awful not liking the book because so many people have loved it, but sadly its not for me
Heather Cranmer (2721 KP) rated Need (Need #1) in Books

I loved this book and am now going to get the second book in the series =D I'll be honest, I found this book quite boring when I first started reading it. It wasn't until I was about a quarter of the way through it that I really started getting into it. I'm so glad I stuck this book out. The characters, I love...the plot is really good. I'd really recommend this book =) In fact, I'd say that Carrie Jones is a much better writer than Stephenie Meyer.
