Prey ( Werecats book 4)
By Rachel Vincent
Sometimes playing cat and mouse is no game.
Play? Right. My Pride is under fire from all sides, my father's authority is in question and my lover is in exile. Which means I haven't laid eyes on Marc's gorgeous face in months. And with a new mother and an I-know-everything teenager under my protection, I don't exactly have time to fantasize about ever seeing him again.
Then our long-awaited reunion is ruined by a vicious ambush by strays. Now our group is under attack, Marc is missing and I will need every bit of skill and smarts to keep my family from being torn apart. Forever.
Yep! This book broke me a little! First poor Manx but it could have been worse! Second Kaci that kid has been through the mill too I’m hoping she becomes a force to reakon with! Thirdly I want to hate Dan but can’t as he really is bloody clueless! Fourth my god why Ethan I went from crying to have having so much anger and wanting revenge! Lastly this saga between Mark , Faythe and Jace I’m sorry I’m fully with Jace and if she don’t want him I will!!
Oh and img a baby!!
I absolutely love this series and writer for a book to evoke so many emotions it’s got to be a good one!!

My name is Terra, and I’m a Psychic. I have visions, and I need them now more than ever. Of the twelve that escaped from Portiside Prison, one is back behind bars but the rest are still out there, desperate and all the more dangerous for it.
I need to focus, but things between me and my boss are spiralling dangerously out of control, and I’m starting to see my partner in ways I’ve never seen him before—ways I’ve never even considered. I need a moment of clarity, but a body’s been found; our only lead being a single feather, black as night. Clarity can wait.
There’s no rest for the wicked.
Can’t tell you how much I love this series and writer! I love Terra she is a main character that is so well balanced I took an instant like to her. Cole is a bit of a dick in this one I’m slowly starting to switch loyalty and rooting for Kaleb to win her heart instead. Loved this storyline and actually felt pain for Raven such a sad existence. Really good book can’t wait to see what havoc is caused on Earth side!

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Saw (2004) in Movies
Sep 26, 2020
The first Saw film has become tarnished over the years, due to the relentless shit filled wave of increasingly torturous (both for the audience and the characters) sequels, when really, Saw is a relatively low budget but super tight thriller.
The premise of a serial killer who kidnaps people who don't appreciate life itself, puts them in a dire situation, but gives them a chance to escape if they fight hard enough for it, is one that is intriguing, and captured the imagination of thousands - Jigsaw has since become an iconic horror antagonist.
The unlucky victims first time around are played by Cary Elwes and writer Leigh Whannell.
The two of them are situated in a very minimalist setting. It's grimy and nasty. Director James Wan works wonders with what little he has in that respect.
The cast also includes Danny Glover, which is always a win in my book.
The gore on show in Saw is pretty minimal compared to what's to come, but what we do see is effective and was just right - coupled with a plot that keeps the audience guessing until the final minute, it was enough to get everyone talking back in 2004.
And that ending absolutely shattered me on first watch. An iconic 'Gotcha!' moment for the ages.
Saw is a genuinely decent horror thriller and a rewarding experience for those that like a good twist. Just a shame about those sequels!

Joe Goodhart (27 KP) rated All-New Wolverine, Volume 6: Old Woman Laura in Books
Nov 30, 2020
I know I mentioned on here before (or at least I think I did), but I was starting to lose interest in Tom Taylor's ALL-NEW WOLVERINE. It wasn't that he was a bad writer (he really wasn't), nor was it that I had lost interest in Laura Kinney as a character.
No, quite simply, it just came to the book becoming too silly, with Laura's clone sister Gabby taking much of the spotlight. With that shift in focus, the series had lost a sizable chunk of it's edginess, leaving it feeling more like a pantomime version of the series.
However, with this, "Old Woman Logan", the final story of ANW, Taylor hits it right out of the park!
The first half of the book was a one-off issue with Gabby and Deadpool teaming to take down a mad scientist sort intent on pushing the sport of "genetically modified zombie wolverines" followed by the epilogue to "Orphans of X". Both were solid, with just the right amount of humor peppered in.
But the real gem, kicking ya right in the feels, was the "Old Woman Logan" arc. I won't give any spoilers, as I read it with spoilers and it was awesome! All I will say is this has definitely become one of my new favorites!
Seriously, if you love the character of Laura Kinney as much as I do, you HAVE to read this! So, so, soooo GOOD!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated All She Wrote (Holmes & Moriarity, #2) in Books
Sep 6, 2019
4.5 stars.
I enjoyed this one more than the first, though I think that can be put down to the progression in the relationship between Kit and J.X.
At the start my warm and fuzzies over how the last one ended quickly dissolved as this started with them decided to take a break. I was like WTF?! And then Kit was off across the country to go and see his mentor after her fall down some icy stairs meaning she couldn't run her Writer's Workshop. Of course, it wasn't as straight forward as that and we were thrown into yet another murder mystery.
I have to say I was kinda disheartened when J.X. wasn't in the first third (or so) of the story as I really liked him and Kit as a couple but he reappeared and the warm and fuzzies returned. The progression of their relationship in this one was so sweet. J.X. is willing to anything to keep Kit in his life and I find that lovely.
As for the murder mystery, I was once again stumped until the 90% mark when someone wasn't quite upset enough and it clicked (about the same time as Kit figured it out, too).
I love Josh Lanyon books like this and can't wait to read more from him! I also can't wait for the next Holmes and Moriarity book!
