Buddy Evans is considered one of the most eligible bachelors in New York City. Feeling like his life is incomplete, he wants to have a son to teach life's lessons too. However not wanting a wife, he decides to ask a former girlfriend to be a surrogate to carry his child, who he would then raise on his own. Not as easy as he thought it would be, he finally finds a woman in Maggie to help him. A struggling musician in need of money, Maggie agrees to help out as long as there is a mutual agreement between the two of them. As Buddy and Maggie work through a legal, financial and unemotional arrangement, they come to the realization that being parents will take them down a road that they never thought they would be at.
