Soviet horror movie based on a short story by Nikolai Gogol. After a seminarian has an unsettling encounter with a witch while travelling, he is disturbed to find himself ordered to spend three nights saying prayers for the soul of a wealthy man's daughter, while locked in the church with her body - especially when she turns out to bear a striking resemblance to the witch he believed he killed. Can he make it through the three nights with body and soul intact? The first horror movie to get an official release in the USSR.
