Dean (6921 KP) rated Final Destination 5 (2011) in Movies

A decent entry into the series, a step up from the 4th. I didn't get to see it in 3d but imagine it was pretty good. Very big opening scene, and plenty of inventive "accidents" and gore. You know what to expect for most of it. Thought the ending was a nice touch!

Fantastic show!
Just finished the season and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Fantastically fresh storyline with interesting, 3D characters you actually care about doing unpredictable things. Hilarious scenarios and comedic dialogue alogside sensitive subject matter and complicated family dynamics. Lots left hanging for a season 2 possibility.

Only watched the 3D version on DVD so far, some scenes look good and you can tell it was made and shot to be a 3D film. Some scenes looked more like a hologram though. I have to add the colours seemed a bit out at times .....barely noticed the blood which there is tons of!? Will watch again in 2D soon.
Otherwise it's a fun, very bloody, gory creature feature with some good SFX, plenty of hot girls including Kelly Brook, good soundtrack, some tongue in cheek humour and a decent cast! It's a little short at 78mins and the climax of the film wasn't exactly epic. If you like cool films that know their target audience, you'll enjoy this!

It's a fascinating, interesting take on videogame narrative, and unlike other interactive fiction games that take place in 3D space, Stanley Parable has the added bonus of feeling rewarding whenever you discover a new path

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Black Panther (2018) in Movies
Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
The last time we saw Black Panther was in Captain America: Civil War, when we were introduced to the character and now we finally have the character-based movie that brings us more about the new King of Wakanda and his families history, we also get to see Wakanda and it is pretty stunning in RealD 3D.
It seems that Marvel has certainly found the key to making superhero movies that just look so great and Black Panther is no exception to their continued success, the movie looks great, it has a superb cast, the soundtrack is superb and the action is all in the places it needs to be, oh and the 3D is done in such a way that it has depth without any of those in your face moments.

Gareth von Kallenbach (965 KP) rated Finding Nemo (2003) in Movies

“Finding Nemo” is the fifth Disney/Pixar film ever made and when it released in May of 2003, and it had the biggest opening weekend for an animated film. How could it not with a heartwarming story and an outstanding cast including; Albert Brooks (Marlin), Ellen DeGeneres (Dory), Willem Dafoe (Gill), and many other big names providing the voices. Like many other Disney/Pixar films, “Finding Nemo” has once again swam to the big screen in Disney Digital 3-D using digital projection to bring the audience along on the journey to help an overly cautious father and his forgetful sidekick find his son Nemo.
The Walt Disney studios along with Pixar studios have a great opportunity to bring in more box office dollars by giving movie-goers of all walks of life to either experience the story for the first time or for the millionth time but in a new and exciting way. A lot of people don’t like 3D technology and at times I am one of those people. Only when a film is filmed in 3D is it actually worth going to see in my opinion. Though I am about to contradict myself, I must say that I was amazed at how well the 3D effects had on the film as the conversion process was masterfully done. One of my favorite things about the film has always been the vibrant colors and attention to detail that the creators put in, all of which can be experienced to a higher extent with the 3D technology. If your doubtful when asking yourself “should I take the kids to see this?” don’t be. It is well worth the price of the ticket.

Even in 3D and starring Scarlet Johansson, this is a convoluted mess.
I was hopeful about this one. Even took the time to make sure to watch it in 3D. I love Scarlet Johansson. Figured I had made everything possible to enjoy this film I had read many terrible reviews of. Now, 2 hours later, I just sit here empty. Sure, the movie is visually stunning. The CGI and action is well done. But all that doesn't matter without a story. Story here is convoluted and messy to say the least. There were several times when I just found myself bored and didn't care about the characters or what was happening. It's a shame something with so much potential turned into such an empty shell. Or maybe how fitting...
Dean (6921 KP) rated The Final Destination (2009) in Movies
Feb 18, 2018
Follows the same Final destination formula but it seems less impressive this time round. The deaths are not quite as creative as the other films on the whole and some of the effects used just don't fit in with the rest of the film. Probably put in for the 3D cinema release. Still ok for fans of the first 3, but probably the weakest overall for me.

Definitely exceeded my expectations. Great effects, Story line and acting. Went to see it in 3D didn't really add anything special there.
I was surprised at how emotional the film was and how invested/ how much i cared for the dinosaurs.
As always Jeff Goldblum stole the film with a quite powerful message at the end.
Definitely left me wanting more. Roll on the next one
