"That’s just a jam. Always, whenever I DJ, this goes on. Devendra Banhart played this for me and turned me onto it. It’s sort of disco… but not quite in the prime of disco; his era was the late 70s and early 80s. Sylvester’s not around anymore, sadly he died of complications from HIV/AIDS in 1988. He left a lot of great records – most famously You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) – but there’s only a few of his songs I really love. This is his best in my opinion. It’s really funky, super dance-y, nice n’ long, and it just grooves."

"It's different with films. I don't listen to old music, but with films, a film that I love, I watch over and over again. There's a film called Jean Des Florette and the sequel's called Manon Des Sources, that I absolutely love and it's made in the '80s by Claude Berri. It's such a beautiful film. Again, the characters are so beautifully drawn, they're so subtle and lovely. I always take it on tour with me and it's a real comfort. I watch it night after night on tour. It's like music to me, it makes me happy."

"Rock Star is an interesting movie for me; I watched it probably around 15 times. I love what it represents; I love that it’s almost a mockumentary of ’80s excess. And any movie with Jennifer Aniston is always a good movie. But more than anything for me, I love the music in it. I actually have bought the soundtrack twice — I lost the first one — and I’m a big Steel Dragon fan. I like Steel Dragon enough to know there are two singers who recorded the music for it, Jeff Scott Soto and Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart. I know more than I should"

"Set in the Amazonian rain forest. It’s gothic and funny and strange and profound and outrageous. A female “Heart of Darkness.” Marina, a 42-year-old research scientist from Minnesota goes in search of her formidable old mentor, who has disappeared researching the women of a certain Amazonian tribe who stay fertile into their 80s from eating the hallucinogenic bark of a magical tree. As well as everything else, it’s an exploration of what it is to be a woman who’s getting older. And it makes that particular state seem more wonderful than it usually seems"

Finally seen I've been wanting to see the movie since I first watched the trailer last September for movie that's part mean girls part freaky Friday with a dash of 80s slasher movies this movie has it all u haven't seen it all till u see Vince Vaughan channeling his inner teenage girl persona had me in stitches and Kathryn Newton as millie and the butcher is a star in the making. There are some good kills in this movie with plenty of gore. Overall worth the long wait to see the movie

"The Golden State Killer was active in California in the 70s and 80s, before I was born. Michelle McCnamera made it her life’s purpose to find out as much as she could about him and his victims, and she made incredible breaks in the case just sitting at home on her computer. She died unexpectedly in 2016, two years before The Golden State Killer was caught, and although the authorities didn’t officially give her credit for having a hand in catching him, the spotlight she shone on the case made an enormous difference at the very least. Watched yesterday at my local Cineworld still a classic 80s movie probably the first time I've seen it on the big screen and it still looks good for a movie that's 35 years old everything about the movie is great but for the real star of the movie has to be the car to turn a delorean into a time machine it just works the soundtrack fantastic watch out for a cameo from huely Lewis from the news. Overall still a good movie

My favourite book of the month was High Moor this was an old fashioned English werewolf story set in the 80s and current day so good!

My least favourite was Zombie Insurance this was an arc and I honestly don’t know how I finished it

My DNFS were at 2 which was great for me
