Suikoden, and the series that it spawned, is one of my favorites. Here, you play as the son of an imperial general who, by a matter of circumstances, becomes the head of the rebellion. Collect 108 characters in multiple sidequests--a pretty ambitious effort for the time. But what really makes Suikoden stand out from the pack of JRPGs of the 90s is its story. Suikoden doesn't flinch away at the harsh realities of war and what it can do to a country, family, and individual.

This is a good album. It snuckup on me one day during a long drive, and I ended up listening to all of it.
While it does miss a certain WOW factor most of the songs are very good. The sound mostly blends current dance and pop music with a pop sound that reminds me a little more of 90s pop.
Some stand out tracks would be Recovery (which I can't stop listening to) and Top of the World, which is actually a bit off the beaten path when compared to the other songs on the album.
All in all it kept me listening.

Don't get me wrong, I am not the biggest Marvel fan in the family (step forward, my daughter), but I really enjoyed this story, which was strong and involving. Usual great action scenes and funny bits to keep you entertained, I am seriously considering a DVD purchase when the time comes. Only gripe is the excellent soundtrack does not seem to be available with all the great 90s tracks - and the orchestral soundtrack is only on MP3? How am I meant to play that in the car??

Get over here!
So in the 90s you were either in the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat camp. Not gonna lie I was all Street Fighter.

However 20 something years on Mortal Kombat has evolved into a great game with a fantastic story.

Fast flowing easy to pick up, easy moves to master and perfect makes this a fantastic game.

Play alone the towers, storyline or krypt.

Or play local multiplayer the fun starts immediately.

Customising is a bit complex and online takes a lot of mastering but all in all I cant recommend this game enough

Bruce Almighty (2003)
Bruce Almighty (2003)
2003 | Comedy, Sci-Fi
Jim Carrey was on a winning streak in the late 90s and early 00s with films like Liar Liar, Me, Myself & Irene and of course Ace Ventura. However, perhaps my favourite of his works is Bruce Almighty. This genuinely funny comedy about a man who ends up being God was well received by critics and box-office dynamite.

Aniston plays Carrey’s wife, dealing with the strange goings on in their marriage and putting her husband straight in only a way Aniston can. It’s a classic of its time and repeat viewings only highlight how dreadful its successor, Evan Almighty actually was.

A Gem
This movie is a gem that is over looked. If you were a child of they 80s you most likely have seen this movie. This over the top oddity was before it's time. It is a work of art only Terry Gilliam can pull off. If this movie came out in the late 90s or 2000s it would be mentioned more often but being a product of the 80s (a great era of for films) ithas been fading away. So before it it is a footnote in a movie journal go find a copy and watch it and share it and talk about it. Let the legend live on.

"Trust was one of the first American indies that I ever saw… and it blew my mind. My experience of movies up until that point had taken place in a multiplex. The fare was entertaining, sure, but I never felt like there was a place for me in it. Hartley’s film and the early ’90s changed all of that. It seemed like a whole new art form. I didn’t even realize that you could make a film like this! The characters were smart and seductive, and they hurt and loved in ways I recognized. Martin Donovan, Bill Sage, Adrienne Shelly — they were my Band of Outsiders."

"They’re the one band I’d love to see reform and get all the money and all the credit they’re due. They were so explosive, so prolific, so ragged and quite harsh live. They were very much of a pre-90s world, if you know what I mean - under-rehearsed, slamming it out, not caring. Probably never had a fucking tour bus. They were on the cusp of greatness, then it all fucking imploded. Songs like ‘Too Far Down’, ‘Hardly Getting Over It’, ‘Sorry Somehow’, I love that because of Grant Hart’s desperation on it. I always preferred Grant’s voice but I think Bob [Mould] might have shaded it on the lyrics."

MelanieTheresa (997 KP) rated Rocketman (2019) in Movies

I absolutely LOVED this movie! A musical biopic during which the characters may break into an Elton John song at any moment? Sign me up.

If I hadn't already been half in love with Taron Egerton, I would be now. Major kudos to him for the performance, the singing, and the flair with which he portrayed Sir Elton.

My only quibble is that the movie only goes up to the late 80s. I would have liked to have seen it go further, into the 90s and beyond, but I understand why it didn't.

Was Bohemian Rhapsody a better movie? Maybe. But Rocketman was so much more fun.

"They're creepy and they're kooky

the Addmas Family!"

(Very) Early 90s live action take on the Addams Family with Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston impeccably cast as Gomez and Morticia Addams, alongside an equally impeccably cast Christopher Lloyd as Fester Addams.

The plot? Fester Addams has been missing, presumed dead, for decades until a man arrives at their house claiming to be the same, but with no memory of his childhood.

No, this is NOT the one where Wednesday Addams learns to smile (that would be the superior sequel: The Addams Family Values), but this is still an enjoyable enough diversion.
