I loved this book. There were some really good moments were I felt like I was watching (reading) a VH1 documentary. Very nostalgic reading experience. Definitely worth it.

I re-read this book almost every year. I am often surprised how I focus on a different part of the book each time. (0 more)

I see a lot of people are disappointed. I, personally, enjoyed this story. I guessed maybe 1/5th of the end, so it was nice to be surprised.

A nice surprise
I had never heard of this book until I was given it as a birthday present because it won the Boiler prize the year I was born (1987). All I can say is what a pleasant surprise. It's a well written and intriguing story of the life and loves of a woman on her death bed. The main character Claudia is very flawed, but it makes her more real, personable and intriguing, and there are a few interesting story developments that keep you reading throughout.

A bit too long
How have I never seen this before?
Honestly I was shocked I haven't ever seen this movie. It was actually pretty good! For me it took a while to really get into it, it was quite slow going until they got to the crew going into orbit, after that it snowballed into quite a nail biter. A good story line, although it was very long. Would I watch it again? Maybe.

Lots of fun!
I was a fan of the first Transformers movie, but they got a little too over the top after a while. This one brought the fun back. Interesting characters, cool effects and a decent storyline. I didn't even mind John Cena in this one(not a big fan). Everything played out well and I really enjoyed it being set in the 80s. The action was intense and not overdone like some of the other transformers movies. I highly recommend this one for the whole family. Worth a watch!

Although this book is aimed towards children of 9 years plus, I believe it's still a great read for adults. It really is a lot of fun! It's an adventure story filled with magic and mild horror, which in my opinion is a great mix. I knocked a star off as I thought the ending was quite abrupt. A massive build up which lead to a bit of an anticlimax.
I liked all of the characters and would like to see if they return in the second installment.

Can get a bit confusing
I heard it said that the director had wanted to make a BioShock film, was rejected, and made this instead. I believe it. After seeing this I had such a BioShock feel about it and apparently my feelings are well founded. This film is fantastically dark and weird with a perfect setting and aesthetic. It's a bit on the longer side, but if that doesn't bother you then I highly recommend it.

"This is a song that mixes humor and sadness beautifully. My wife and I went to see Jason in Red Bank, NJ at the Count Basie Theatre a couple years ago and this was a song I wasn’t familiar with a the time but it immediately registered with us both. I went home and found the record it was on and I think it’s a heartbreaking song with a little bit of laughter to ease the blow. It will also make you think twice about covering Hendrix… you never know who’s watching."
