Heather Heatso Culbertson (295 KP) rated A Prayer Before Dawn (2018) in Movies

I saw this as part of a secret film festival so didn’t know much about it going in, I think I would have liked it just a bit more if I had known it was a true story at the beginning rather then at the end, I would have understood the point more. That said it was really well done and kept me fully engaged, and at the edge of my seat, for the entire movie. It was also really brutal start to finish so don’t think I’ll ever need a repeat viewing.

Binge watchers dream!
I I begrudgingly started watching this after it was recommended by several friends. I wasn’t expecting much as I as sup it was a series remake of house on haunted hill (it isn’t).
I was pleasantly surprised, however, & binge watched the series in 2 days.
It’s got some good scares, a great story and a fab cast. Worth a watch!

A good clever story
I gave this film a 7 as i really enjoyed it. It was a good sci-fi, fantasy film with the right amount of horror and suspense. The cast which was almost entirely female were excellent and other than the brilliant Jennifer Jason Leigh and the equally brilliant Natalie Portman i though the supporting cast were excellent too. I wont give too much away other than to say its a good if somewhat slow build up. Definitely glad i watched it. :)

Kawai!
Loved the animation, and the concept is great, I just could not get into it. I think I may have been pregnant at the time, so struggled with a lot of watching, it was a dark time...
I can tell that a lot of people will and do l9ve it, it clearly has a lot going for it, but it's probaly not 'easy watching' as it seems to have more subtle depth that I am missing.
Will give it another go soon and update this review.

I'm really torn on which score to give this book. I liked parts of it, and didn't like others. Overall, it was, "fine," for lack of a better word. I don't want to give it a bomb score, because it wasn't bad. I just felt like I loved some parts, and then other parts were frankly, unrelatable. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to read it. It's decent for a beach read. However, if someone had a few books in their hands, and they were trying to decide, I'd ask them what the other choices were.

This is a flashback story where the chapters tend to start with a letter home from the front and lead into a memory.
I really wanted to be able to finish this story, but I couldn’t. I was bothered by the fact that they are making Mr. March kind of a shady husband.
The book was adjusting my perspective on the original story of Little Women. I may never be able to read or watch Little Women the same way again, and that makes me sad because it is one I enjoy.

I love Korean culture, so I decided to read this book when I saw it was available on Amazon Prime.
We’re never told of the narrator’s name, only that she is a sixth grader. More importance is put on the sons of the family. Our narrator’s family is poor. In order to help with the money problem, our narrator makes a shocking choice.
This is a very short story, but it is written very well. I felt like I was in the story. It is a sad story though.
