Snow White , Blood Red (Fairy tale anthology book 1)
Edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Exploring the darker side of popular fairy tales, this anthology features dark and erotic tales of trolls and ogres, bewitched princesses, and magical kingdoms.
There were a few I picked out that I liked and I found a few new authors to try.
The Frog Prince by Gahan Wilson - Really enjoyed this it was a strange little story very Alice in Wonderland feel.
Stalking Beans by Nancy Kress - This is definitely a different adult spin on Jack and the beanstalk!
Snow Drop by Tabitha Lee - This was my favourite by far. A dark twisty version of Snow White and her step mother very dark.
Little Red by Wendy Wheeler - This gave me creepy shivers. Very well written unfortunately I can’t find anything by this author!
The Root of the Matter by Gregory Frost - This is a very adult version of Repunzel kinda dark and to the point.
The Changelings by Melanie Tem - Strange little story with some very sad undertones.
Troll Bridge by Neil Gaiman - I love Neil Gaiman he has such a unique storytelling ability and this did not disappoint!
Overall it was a good little anthology!

I was probably one of the last people in my generation to read this book! (just kidding lol) But I think I picked this series up a couple years back and devoured ever book like it was candy! I was super nervous that I wouldn't follow the ideas and characters and I was scared I would hate it and a whole generation would hate me for hating it! But I ended up falling in love with everything about this book! So glad I read it later in life because I think I appreciated the concepts more as an adult.

The characters were captured in a realistic image. Not something you would see in some child's book, we're talking full-on adult image. It was very easy to imagine these fairytales creature walking in everyday life. (2 more)
Will Smith was a great actor to hold this roll. It wasn't so much his past stardom that pushed him forward, but his well known abilities to make different faces that conincide with certain scenes.
Well worth watching a second time to catch anything you miss the first.

This novella takes place in between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Now, I would have liked this more, if this story hadn't been told in multiple ways already. In fact, I read 'Honor Among Thieves', which is old canon, before I read this. It was practically the same story.
Anyway, if you want to read a young adult/children's book about a smuggling mission between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, this is the book for you. Though, 'Honor Among Thieves' was better.
Side note: Greg Rucka's writes some of the best comics, so I was sold on that.

To really appreciate I believe this must be read or reread, as an adult. Not to or for a child, but to yourself. The descriptions of the garden are beautiful, the change in the children can be felt as well as seen. It really is quite remarkable and I'm sad I never knew how good it really was until now.
If I had a criticism it would be that I would have preferred a fraction longer at the end to really complete the story, even if just a page or two more.
A classic to be owned.

Not just for kids
As much as i love horror films i also love kids films. I had meant to watch this since it came out but i kept forgetting. I finally got around to watching it and i loved it! The story is motivational, watching it as an adult you can see the underlying tone of racism and how Judy (the bunny) gets her dream job and does it wonderfully! I even like how she turned Nicks life around. Even though Judy and Nick are different speices i think they'd make a great couple

Just when I thought I didn't have any more patience for Young Adult fiction, along comes this book. A book so funny, so sweet, so true that it has made me give the genre another chance. The main character, Finbar Frame, is absolutely endearing in all his geekiness and attempts at being cool by becoming a vampire. The plot is simple and it's no surprise where the story goes or how it ends, but it is Finbar himself that makes the book a delight to read. Bloodthirsty is a very short and easy read that was most enjoyable.
