A strong cast struggle to survive amid the special effects and implausible twists in the latest version of the giant gorilla classic
Critic Review By Wendy Ide - The Guardian
Original Score: 3 out of 5

Excerpt:
...it’s enjoyable enough, if a little overblown. However, despite the quality of actors – Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson star, alongside John C Reilly – the characters are not quite as nuanced as you might hope.

Cheesy fun adventure
I can see why so many like this, especially if they watched it in their childhood. I only saw it a few years ago and it looks very dated now. Very cheesy, predictable but with some funny moments. It's ok but compared to the likes of @Willow (1988) or @Krull (1983) also released in the 80's it doesn't fare well.

What a fantastic book! It is well written with a great plot and characters. This book is full of action, adventure, magic and romance. It is fast paced and I couldn't put it down. Gia is a great main character she is strong, smart and witty but she is also practical. Drake is very creative I love the whole book jumping concept. Drake's world building is slowly and beautifully done. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

Quite enjoyed this. It's probably aimed at teenagers but I liked it all the same. I really liked the fantasy story where your kingdom is captured and you gather forces to claim it back. Its quite amusing and light hearted with decent options for your playstyle. Only problem is, you have to buy diamonds to choose certain responses or actions. It can get expensive.

Just as amazing as I remember it. You start out reading the novel, waiting for this huge plot and adventure t ounfold, and then you realize that you have been reading it since page. Mr. Alexander does not waste your time and effort with fluff.

On the second page, I was once again finding myself consumed in this novel meant for young adults. I have to say that it is still one of my favorite series, despite my age, and would recommend to any age.
