Rolling Stone's 42nd greatest album of all time
One of the best albums I have ever listened to, this was a joy from start to finish. It beggars belief that this was their debut as I could easily have believed it was their best of, or at least a first disc of one. Every song is an absolute pleasure for the ears.

Rolling Stone's 16th greatest album of all time
The Dylan albums are coming pretty thick and fast now, and it is hard to see why this one supposedly stands out as better than those lower down the list. Admittedly it has been a week since i listened to it but i can't really remember anything from it, even looking over the tracklisting.

"It was their sixth album, I think, the one before We’re An American Band. There used to be a jukebox in one of the Sheffield pubs that I frequented, and it had lots of great tracks by what were then quite obscure American bands. We spent a shitload of money on playing Grand Funk Railroad and Black Oak Arkansas, but especially Grand Funk."

"This is a brilliant, improvised, one take illustration of the constant inventiveness of Colin Fisher, who plays guitar and saxophone on my new album. It’s music in a very different context from what I make in some ways, and yet when he came to record with me on Suddenly, he was just as at home in that world as he is here"

"His shit influenced everybody, because he came out and he was proclaimed the greatest rapper at the time. Everybody was 50 Cent happy and shit, and I think he did a lot. He lived up to his name at that time. He was putting out endless classic shit. Shout out to Fif. That album was the soundtrack to the hood at that time."

"This one scares people. I’m obviously attracted to covers that are a little art-damaged. It feels like something Grace Jones or Nina Hagen would’ve done. Maybe she was reacting to how glamorous she looked on her previous album, Post. I think it’s totally bold and sets a standard for everybody else. One of the best covers of the last decade."

"This song’s off of Caramel, an album I’ve had on repeat for the whole year. It’s one of the most sexy and sleazy songs I’ve heard in my life. It kind of turns me on when I hear it. I always play it when I’m driving around LA. I just can’t stop playing this song; I’m kind of obsessed with it."

"That album is the shit. I thought I was too young to be listening to that shit. I remember when I heard it I knew I wasn’t supposed to be listening to it. I was in first grade, I don’t even remember how old I was. I had no idea even what the fuck it meant. I still don’t exactly."
