Okay so with rewatching Alien Covenant this week, I need to ask - what are your views on the Alien prequels? Covenant and/or Promeheus?

That would've been a much better idea especially as more of a sequel. I just feel that with these prequels, they're going back into the origins of something we don't really need to know. Do we really care much about where the xenomorphs came from? Considering the explanations already put forward and the fact they're planning on making 2 more prequels, I'd say it's better not knowing the back story. I hate the fact that they feel the need to explain everything nowadays.

I agree. The main generic problem with a prequel is you already know how it's going to end up. You already know Mace Windu and Amidala are going to die and Golum will end up with the ring..I always think it is more interesting and can cover new ground moving forward rather than backward.

Great homage to the original
Thank you Ridley Scott for making this homage to alien. Much better than I expected. After Prometheus this certainly felt more like an alien film. Great action sequences throughout and some jump scares in the right places. would recommend this movie to anyone who has or hasnt seen an alien film, It stands alone and it continues where Prometheus left off.

"Alien is a perfect film and if I were to ever make a sci-fi or horror film, the benchmark for me would be Alien. I would put Alien and Aliens side-by-side, actually. I think Alien 3 is mediocre and I think Alien: Resurrection is a travesty. AvP is fun. Whoever wins, we lose, you know — why not? I would love to see a return to greatness for that franchise. Knowing that David Fincher was given a chance, it’s actually kind of confusing. I think with better writers Alien 3 would be measuring up, because obviously he is as quality a director as Scott or Cameron. Jeunet is a brilliant director too, but just not right for that series."
