This book follows The Selection. In it, America and Maxon are in love until he does something that makes her mad. She then becomes whiny, and her annoying behavior pushes Maxon into the arms of someone else. America starts to question why Maxon doesn't treat her well anymore. It's clear Maxon and this other girl are in love and should be together. This book left me disliking America and Maxon.

Very interesting take on how America may be during "post-apocalyptic" times. Good characters development.

"A seminal book of essays. A meditation on the mythologies of the West and on America itself. Trenchant, prescient, timeless"
