"Before Gladiator, there was another slave turned gladiator, and his name was Conan. I think if any film demonstrates the pure charismatic power of Arnold Schwarzenegger, this is the one. When in need of a good pick-me-up, this old fashioned revenge story from John Milius is a go-to for me. And though the movie has its flaws, when Basil Pouledaris’ music picks up during the sword-fights that punctuate the story, these prove to be some of the best fight scenes ever captured on the silver screen."

This book really hit home for me because it dealt with recovery from an abusive, codependent relationship. Arnold did an amazing job of capturing the aspects of denial and fear that come along with recovery. It is hard to feel like you are good enough for anyone or that you deserve better and this book did an amazing job at expressing this. At it's base it is a romance but a healing one that is multi dimensional. I think this goes up with one of the most poingant books I have read and I highly recommend it.

A film with all the main action stars of the 80's, 90's and 00's!! Pity Bruce Willis and Arnold didn't have bigger roles than just cameos. It is high octane stuff, with some great fights, stunts, explosions, good chase scene and one loud bad ass gun!!! Yes the story is simple and weak, just like all the old action films. It's kinda like a mix of Commando with the Magnificent seven! If you like pure action you will love it, if you don't you won't! Great cast though and rumours of a sequel already!

The effects are pretty good for 1999.... though twenty years on they look pretty dated in parts.

Good pulpy fun
For good, pulpy, over-the-top fun, you can't beat Brendan Fraser's first Mummy film. The graphics are pretty great for being twenty years old, though at times its age becomes apparent. Don't expect too much in the way of horror, as this is solidly PG-13 fare, but if you want a good family thriller, this is the film for you.

Rewatched this in UHD and it's still as good today as it was when first released 31 years ago!.

A very simple plot (as was the case with these type of movies back then and now) with Arnold as a fish out of water russian cop trying to track a bad guy drug dealer who has fled from moscow to chicago.A wise cracking american cop (belushi) is Arnold's guide through chicago as he hunts down the bad guy..Some funny one liners and old school action set pieces make this an enjoyable film.
