Penny is a small-time con artist who decides to head to Europe to change things up a bit. Josephine is at the top of the con artist charts and is living very comfortably in Europe making a mint off the wealthy gentlemen who cross her path. When Penny stumbles onto her train she realises that the crass American could bring too much attention so she sets about sabotaging her plans. Penny is more resourceful than she seems though and soon makes her way back into Josephine's life.
I did laugh at a couple of points, but it really wasn't the bright and bubbly comedy I'd been hoping for. There are some definite hangovers that they've kept in that stick out in a modern film. The opening titles and some of the music are very reminiscent of older comedic movies and honestly seemed like a bad choice. You're remaking something, go the whole hog or don't bother.
Hathaway & Wilson do work well together as a comedy duo. The training montage was quite possibly the best bit and I enjoyed the teacher/student dynamic that they had. Beyond this though the film seemed to lack genuine comedy and instead relied on pratfalls. I don't know if it's just that it doesn't feel right that these two were doing this humour or that this humour doesn't have the same standing in films as it used to, but it left me disappointed.
Anne Hathaway is a stunning trickster with the accent of a stereotypical aristocrat. Listening to that in the trailers annoyed me, the film was no better. Admittedly it does change throughout to accommodate the con but it rears it's ugly head enough times to make you remember it.
Rebel Wilson was... Rebel Wilson, I'm not sure she had any other setting, and I don't think that matters for this. It's the perfect part for her and she actually does get some moments of seriousness to deal with. I think this was the perfect bit of casting.
I wish I could remember Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to see how much they kept but it has been a very long time since I watched it. Even without that memory I can tell you it isn't a fitting tribute to it, or to the genre sadly.
What you should do
At some point it'll stream and if there's nothing else to do it might be worth watching. I'm not sure you need to go out of your way to find it.
Movie thing you wish you could take home
I'll take some of the poise and agility that Josephine has, please and thank you.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated In Plain Sight: Seeing God's Signature throughout Creation in Books
Apr 27, 2018
As an artist, a writer, and a creator, God has left His fingerprints in His work. Look at an eyeball… now look at gold particles. Look at a cabbage leaf… now look at blood vessels. One of my favorite comparisons: The birth of a cell, a nebula in space. A cell is so small… a nebula is so big. Both are small or big to the point that we really can't wrap our minds around how small and big they are… and yet the similarities are striking.
Gordon has created a beautiful book with 40 days of photographs and daily devotions, scripture verses, and some thought provoking questions. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through his thoughts and devotional guides. This book really opened my eyes to what was meant when God said that He had clearly exposed himself in creation, so that man had no excuse.
In Plain Sight was a joy to explore, and left me with a whole new way of looking at God's creation.
Recommendation: This book would be great for a family devotion, a small group, a Bible study, or an individual of any age. I would recommend keeping a notebook to answer the questions, and instead of reading the one verse in the text, read the paragraph or chapter that it came from, for the sake of keeping the verses in context.

This series has had a strong storyline involving Megan and her complicated past with various family members, and that continues here by introducing us to her father. Additionally, there are developments in other ongoing storylines. I enjoyed getting the next chapter in Megan’s life. The characters are as strong as always, whether main characters, series regulars, or those introduced for this book. The subplots did distract from the main mystery at times, but there is still a solid mystery here. One element of the mystery needed to be included better, but overall it was a minor issue. We got great twists and red herrings on the way to a surprising ending. Fans of the series will be pleased with this new entry.

“Now you have to see that I have been chosen. We about to blow. Make it so I never have to see another day where my momma stress about the bills that she got to pay. I stay on the path that I know. The road that leads straight to the goals. Hating ‘cause you see the growth. You ain’t gonna stop me, I shine through the storm. I will never worry about these hoes. I look over my shoulder as long as it goes ” – lyrics
‘Golden Boy’ tells an interesting tale of a young man who is determined to be the best version of himself.
Apparently, he’s not worried about promiscuous women or any other distraction. His main concern is stacking money as high as he can stack it and supporting his family.
‘Golden Boy’ contains a relatable storyline and harmonious rap vocals. Also, the likable tune possesses rhythmic instrumentation scented with an urban-tropical-rap fragrance.
Young Pwavy got involved in music after his cousin played him the work he had done for other artists. His musical influences include Drake, Post Malone, and Sheckwes.

Overall, this book is a great idea! A wonderful way to bring to life a piece of the culture that we love to read about.
I received two pages from this coloring book to color for free through Celebrate Lit for this Blog Tour in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Theo Faber is the criminal psychotherapist who wants to fix her.
The backstory helps to fill in details about both characters, of course, but at one point early on I found myself wondering if I really needed that much background info about Theo. I'm just going to tell you that yes, you do need that info. Nothing in this book is done by accident. The secondary characters are very much secondary characters, in that they seem to be far less interesting than either Alicia or Theo. They do what they're designed to do and further the plot, not much more. Until.
And I really can't give you much more than that. This is a book that depends upon the reader being fooled by the twist - and what a twist it is! I appreciate a good twist, assuming I didn't see it coming, and in this case I definitely did not.
This is a hell of a debut novel, and I truly hope to read more from this author. The movie rights have already been optioned by Plan B Productions / AnnaPurna Pictures, and I cannot wait to see how this story translates to the big screen.
Thanks to Celadon Books for the ARE!
