Old school Thriller
A good Thriller as Morgan Freeman playing an assassin escapes police custody. In the wilderness John Cusack and his son are on a camping trip and find him. Meanwhile Freeman's team are in pursuit.
A good chase thriller set in the wild with a cat and mouse plot to see who can evade who and survive. Might still be on Netflix currently.

This is okay as a basic fantasy novel. One thing did bother me towards the beginning in that the main character classifies her and her friends as classes, like assassin, ranger, etc. and even in Dungeons and Dragons books they don't come straight out and name them like that, and it just seemed a little cheesy. Overall the concept is good, but the characters just don't grow nor did I become attached to them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men - thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

This is my first reread of this series and I loved this more the second time round. There were things I’d forgotten and I absolutely love Celaena I forgot how innocent she could be under all that toughness. I also remembered I used to like choal 🙈

I love the world Sarah creates! Fae, witches, demons, a prince, assassins, and magic! Throne of Glass is the start to this amazing series and it takes a little to get into it because there is so much you need to know about her past and all the characters and the world. The series gets better with each book you read.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
2019 | Action, Crime, Thriller
I'm going to start by saying that I originally wondered why this film was subtitled Parabellum, until a character in the film quotes the famous line: 'if you desire peace, prepare for war' in its original Latin (with English subtitles).

And that is pretty much what this film is about, picking up almost directly after Chapter 2 and with Keanu's super assassin John Wick now with a 14 million USD price on his head after killing a man on company (sacred) ground - i.e. The Continental Hotel - in the previous instalment.

I'm still a little hazy on the society itself - just how much are those hitman tokens worth? They constantly seem to change value! - and on why the world and its neighbour seems to be some sort of assassin, leading me almost to wonder are we in some sort of Matrix reality (not helped by Keanu even saying he needs 'Guns. Lots of guns'), but - putting that aside - this is still quite an enjoyable, albeit very violent, action movie.

Jason Statham returns as The Mechanic (codename for an assassin) in the second - and, so far, last - instalment in the series of the same name; a series that attempts to replicate the success of The Transporter series.

This is really just an excuse for stunts featuring the Stathamator, with a simple enough plot and with Jessica Alba and Michelle Yeoh thrown in for no apparent reason at all, while Tommy Lee Jones must simply have been looking for a paycheque!

Having read this book previously, I knew that I was going to enjoy it whilst refreshing my memory to continue the series, but I forgot just how much I enjoyed it the first time around.
I love the Killing Eve TV show that is based on the books and that’s what drew me to the books in the first place, but I find that these are so much better (as is usually the way when things are adapted for TV series or films). The book goes into so much more depth about who Villanelle is and who she was before she became the lethal assassin that we now know her as.
Villanelle has quite a few flashbacks of her previous life which gives us the insight into how she came to be and how she came to choose her new name. I find it fascinating reading through her flashbacks as it shows you exactly what shaped her growing up and that becoming an assassin actually saved her from a worse fate.
We also meet Eve and follow her through a number of cases before she settles on a female assassin that is killing people who don’t seem to be connected. Towards the end of the book we meet her full team, who I think will play a prominent part in the sequel book.
I’m so glad that I decided to refresh my memory by reading this book again before starting on the second in the series. Luke Jenning’s writing flows beautifully that I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting.

Good, but....
This film was a good watch

It had a good story, good action, good acting, but there was a torture scene which could have been better acted in my opinion

But the only problem with it was it was called American Assassin, and I don't think there was an assassination in the film, there was a lot of killing, but not what I call an assassination

But it was enjoyable, but I've seen better

I would probably wait till it's on Netflix or something

Classic Action Film
I have finally got round to seeing this and watched the extended version. This is a great film about the relationship between a Hitman and a 12 year old girl left orphaned after her family is killed. It is violent without being too graphic or brutal. This is nothing like your typical action, assassin film and has some great scenes between the two lead characters. A little strange but a classic and I'm not surprised it has reached a cult status.
