Peter G. (247 KP) rated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) in Movies

Didn't think this movie would amount to much and was pleasantly surprised by the story which was cleverly marketed as based on true events.
All here are amazing with stand outs from Harrelson and McDormand who are both very believable and their characters fleshed out.
A little uneven in places, but the story telling is still quite compelling.

Good idea for story (2 more)
Based closely on true life
Likeable characters
Story stretched out too much (1 more)
Not a fan of the jumps between, Not always obvious who and where you are
Not what I was expecting - but ok read
I did finish and enjoy this book to an extent. I read it as it's been raved about on social media and I don't think it deserved the hype. Was Good, but I skipped a lot of unnecessary detail and the end was disappointing

He goes back home to fight in WW1 and is injured in a mustard gas attack and is told not to return in search of his lost city. Considering it was based on a true story it wasn't bad but just was very very boring

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated Alias Grace in Books

This classic novel of Margaret Atwood is now a televised mini-series, but I really had to read the book before I start watching it. This fascinating historical fiction novel is a psychological profile based on the true story of Grace Marks, the woman convicted of a double homicide in 1843. The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Collected Works of Billy the Kid in Books
Oct 7, 2020
This is a unique hybrid of poetry and prose, mixed with both historical fact and fiction based on the true life story of the famous American outlaw William Bonney, who was better known as "Billy the Kid". You can read my full review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/11/15/so-fascinating-it-should-be-outlawed/

Very interesting (and excellent) cast. Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti, Jeff Daniels, and Guy Pierce all step outside their general wheel houses and bring together a wonderful performance about a true chain of events that unfolded during World War II.
As a Red Sox fan I had a general idea of the story surrounding Moe Berg, but I was enlightened about several different elements of the story by the movie and even more so I was driven to do additional research and found out even more information about this unheralded American Hero.
If you're looking for an action romp this isn't where you'll find it. This is a movie that will capture your imagination and you will almost forget that this is all based on a true story.

For a movie a based on a true story its not a bad movie about three friends since childhood who save the lives of not only theirs and there fellow train passengers from a lone terrorist on route to paris. The movie starts slow as we see there lives leading up too that fateful day all three of them play themselves which is only right no else could have played well clint eastwood directs with his usual style. Deffo watch again

When I learned that Michelle Hoover based this historical fiction novel on a true family story about two girls who suddenly disappeared from their rural family home, I knew I had to read it. Find out why I have this book a strong four out of five stars in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2016/04/25/the-lost-and-what-they-find/

Can you really know someone after writing a few letters? This was an interesting film based on a true story of a woman who believed she had found her true love. the fact he was in prison for murder did not faze her and she was determined to have him released. She contacts two writers to investigate his case to try and get him freed. I really wanted to find out whether he was innocent or not and the twists and turns keep you gripped throughout. Very compelling.
Veronica Pena (690 KP) rated Waco in TV

This series was incredible. The cast was phenomenal and it all being based on a true story was what really made it worth watching. I wasn't alive when Waco happened. I have never really known much about the situation so to watch this and not only learn but to see what happened? It was amazing. I definitely recommend watching this series!
