Good enough to make me buy the book!
I'm not a big fan of "movie before the book" honestly. I prefer to read about it first because I feel that the book is generally better with all of the detail it provides. That and movies have a horrible way of butchering the plot.

I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this movie. It reminded me of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" with it's need of the main character, Simon, to fit in and find his own space in the world. I loved the journey he took, and I was actually so interested that I bought the book this movie was based off of! I haven't read it get, but based on the fact that I liked the movie, I have pretty high hopes.

I loved the TV series based on this from summer of 2008 and had to see how it began. The three stories collected in this book did form the basis of three episodes. Definitely worth reading for fans of comic books or the TV show.

As an Edinburgh resident (ish) I had high hopes for T2. I was worried when I heard it was based on the plot of "Porno" but very pleased to say it was only very loosely based on the book.
Mark Renton is back from the wilderness and looking to catch up with (some) old friends. Sadly, Frank Begbie escapes from prison and spots Renton and goes on the rampage to track him down.
There were moments of brilliance (the theft of the Rangers fans was inspired) but overall the film may have missed the target at times.

Oh my goodness! What an awesome book! Zelda Fitzgerald is a fascinating series of contradictions. This book is a work of fiction but it feels so real based on the popular myths of Zelda & Scott. You feel for both of them through the whole book. At times you despise each of them yet, in the next instant, you root for them like it’s no one’s business. What an excellent, entertaining read.

Good begining
Kresley Cole has created an incredibly complex and surprising story line in this book. With romance, danger, relatability and a new take on Armageddon this book is the starter of the Arcana Chronicles. The book as a whole incorporates just enough romance to be relatively intriguing while not overpoweringly sappy. The series focuses on the growth and development of a 16 year old who is thrown into a world she literally dreamed of, and not in a good way. With zombies and superpowered teenagers based on tarot cards things are bound to get a little crazy. I recommend this book (and the series) to fantasy and fiction lovers.

"Kubler considers all manmade objects as products of human needs. Everything, from tools to objects of aesthetic value (artwork) is analyzed based on the understanding that innovation is always prompted by a problem that needs to be solved. Kubler introduces the concept of the “prime object,” which can exist in physical form or as an idea. He posits that everything is based on a prime object and all that develops from that prime object are mere replications and reproductions. This book has shaped my determination to innovate and to avoid the mannerisms of appropriation."

The one word that comes to mind through all these stories is haunting, which brings it all back to the two statements at the beginning of the book. Based on that, I will be adding The Sympathizer to my reading list.

Enjoyed this book. It's an easy read, would probably make a good holiday book. But it is based on a difficult, challenging subject and is both heart-warming and disturbing at the same time.

I loved Lou, the main protagonist and thought she was a very vivid character with depth, richness and lots I could relate to. Whilst the book has a very serious subject matter underpinning the plot, the story is really about Lou and her journey maturity, independence and self-discovery.

A thought-provoking book capably written with sensitivity.
